You might like Jaws author Peter benchleys book Beast I found it a better read than his more famous shark novel.
I can well believe it. This creature is surely a “living fossil” with ancestors back in the Jurassic. And even further. The squid family go back that far.

I just snatched these pics from footage I received earlier, a shark circling and biting a small fishing boat off Davao this morning.
That was a shock. I've seen many, many octopuses and they have always been very keen to get away where they see perceived danger.
