It seems @Maharg is very happy with UKVI requirement of 3 separate English tests ... Do you know how long it takes if you don't go for premium processing? One of my friend's wife waited for 6 months to get ILR ...I think it's worth paying £500 for premium (same day result), so people can plan life. UKVI should scarp useless English tests.. If applicant passed English test once at the time of first application, then in normal senses, that should be the end of English requirement. Other 2 tests are simply to make money... Do you think UKVI should send a spouse back if he/she fails to pass B1 test at time of ILR?
Yes, I do know how long it takes if you don't go for Premium processing. We've done an FLR application by post. Found it remarkably easy to get on with life after doing so. It took about 4 or 5 weeks I think. If you can be bothered to scroll back through my topics the information is there because I logged it at the time. If a spouse can't pass a B1 test after 5 years then I don't see why they should be allowed ILR. No problem with that. Do you, out of interest, think it's ok for people who have moved here from another country, then gaiedn citizenship and married someone else from the same country, who then comes here and remains unable to speak English? Personally I don't think it's acceptable so have no problem with English tests. A spouse wouldn't get sent back for failing to pass the English test. They'd have to do a further FLR.
Disagree with what Profile? I looked up our FLR application! This is the timeline from 2015. 10 November - Sent off application 17 November - cheque was cashed 24 November - Received letter to go to a Post Office to give biometrics 28 November - Did Biometrics 17 December - BRP arrived 18 December - Documents returned.
No point of further conversation on this senseless talk...I believe UKVI is crooked and trying to making profits from every single forced opportunity... You said couple should live away from each other if he/she fails to pass English exam at ILR....you will understand this when this happens to you one day, and then Philippines denies your entry too as you can't speak Tagalog...
I never said that about the English test and that a couple should live away from each other. Please point out where you believe I said that. I'm not sure why you are taking my posts in such a way, but I suspect you are a member who normally posts under another name and are just trying to be argumentative. I actually agree that it's a pain doing all this, but of all the things we have to do I think the English test is not the main problem.
This is what you said, If a spouse can't pass a B1 test after 5 years then I don't see why they should be allowed ILR. No problem with that. Anyways I will do something useful rather than speaking this non-sense talk with non-sense person...
Ah, the old trick of going back through my posts and posting negative ratings. That old trick, eh. Thanks for proving my suspicions of someone using a second account correct.
As I said. They'd have to do a further period of FLR. In fact I know people who had to do this due to not doing an English test because they didn't know they had to! They came on the old 2 year route and ended up doing 2 extra FLR preiods due to bad applications. Took them 6 years to get ILR!
You want to see what it's like here on the Costas. People who have lived here for twenty years who still haven't got any more Spanish knowledge than to ask for a coffee or a beer. Embarrassing! I think if you are living in a country, there is no excuse for not learning the language, whether that be English, Spanish, Tagalog or Swahili.
I agree @CampelloChris, but some people (I won't name ) think that it only applies to English, and these English speaking people don't need to learn other language... it's ridiculous
You seem to just be plucking ideas out of thin air and attributing them to other people. IF this is aimed at me (apologies if it's not, but you just seem to have got a bee in your bonnet over my posts for some reason) perhaps you would like to point out where you got the idea that I think that from.
I believe every UK citizen should be allowed to love and marry freely regardless of English language skills of spouse. Those people who came here as immigrants but now are British citizen, they have all rights to marry someone from their country of origin (maybe school days sweetheart or anyone else). People can learn language over a period of time, but it should not be forced on applicants to learn English, else you can't be in love with a British. I agree those immigrants coming to UK on work visa or student visa should be assessed for English, BUT not spouse and fiancee
