    For info
Should anyone who has ILR status leave the UK for more than 2 years, then an application to return is necessary.

So indefinite is not really true for some future scenarios that cause leaving the UK for more than 2 years

Its indefinite leave to remain, not to go away. The conditions are listed when you apply.

The person would be covered under the same rules as you or I.( would of thought as they are now a British citizen)

I've posted the topic as visa applicants may think that once ILR attained then settlement is completed, but circumstances causing to be outside the UK for a period of time doesn't mean the end of immigration process.

Seems attaining UK Citizenship would overcome this issue and offer more freedom?

There is a 15 year limit on British citizens for some rights I think.
