    Hi to everyone here.
The wife was granted her spouse visa in the philippines in 2016 so we are now just about to start the process for the 1st FLR. I will explain my wife is a teacher here but has been told they will not renew her contract till she gets her new visa so rather than going through the summer holidays without pay we have decided to go the priority route as they say they will renew the contract if she gets her visa before the schools break up for summer, we will apply 5th july which is the earliest she can apply for the visa.

I would just like a little imformation as we are busy at work all the time and any help will be appreciated to cut down time.

I assume going the priority route she will have her biometrics done there on the day of appointment.

As i dont have a printer/scanner can we do the scanning of the documents at the appointment even if it costs more.
I cannot see the point buying a printer/scanner for £50 + and maybe ink cartridges if not supplied just to use it for the application and never used again so i think it would be cost effective just to do it at the appointment.

When making an appointment for priortity service can you choose a date or do they allocate you a date to come.
,also can you choose where to go as Liverpool is the nearest home office to me.

Thanks for any imformation that will help me.

Just done our FLR today, using the super priority service. Biometrics are done at the appointment, and as we used one of the enhanced service points (which is what I think most of the non-core ones are) they scanned and submitted all the documents for us there and then. That was helpful as I'm weekly paid so I would have needed to scan and upload 52 documents just for my 12 months payslips alone! Saved me a lot of time and effort, for sure!

We chose the date and location ourselves when booking our appointment, but there weren't many appointments available anywhere nationwide at short notice so we ended up travelling about 80 miles or so to Chelmsford.

Using the super priority service, they promise a next day decision but we got the e-mail confirming our success about 90 minutes after we finished the appointment.

Hope that helps - any more questions, just fire away and I'll help if I can

Congratulations on a successful FLR and very much appreciate your input about doing the FLR . I’m at work now and on my phone but you say you done super priority is it £800 or more for that and did you pay extra for them to scan all your documents.

We paid £1852.20 in total for the visa (plus obviously £1000 for the IHS) which includes the biometrics, so yeah just over £800 for the super priority but we got the fast result we wanted and didn’t have to wait up to 8 weeks. We were charged an additional £60 on top for the appointment when we booked it but document checking and all scanning was included in that. I believe that’s the standard charge for appointments at nearly all the centres, unless you choose “out-of-hours” and they are dearer. The core centres don’t charge for the appointments but they do charge extra for scanning, etc.

Pretty sure Liverpool is one of the enhanced ones so will be the same as it was for us at Chelmsford ie £60 extra but all scanning included.

Thanks a lot you saved me a lot of time which I don’t have with working.so basically I just fill the FLR form online, pay the IHS and book the priority then take all the documents with us on the day of the appointment get them scanned while the wife has her biometrics done.Hopefully I might have some change left for a celebratory beer

Yep, that’s pretty much it. With our appointment, the first thing they did is check her ID, then did the biometrics and finally scanned all the documents in. The scanner they use is really fast, so it shouldn’t actually add much time for that.

When you submit online, it will give you a checklist of what documents they need you to bring to make it all easier for you. Good luck!

Thanks for your input. My wife’s visa runs out 4th August so back tracking the dates for the 28 day rule we can apply the earliest 7th July just like to know can we pay for everything before the 7th July then select a date for the priority service so it will still be in the 28 day ruling.
