We got the ILR through today. So, finally, we are secure. Citizenship next, so we can go to Europe hassle free! We applied on June 11, so about 7 weeks in all. Glad it's all done, although, I must say, the last 5.5 years have positively flown by.
Congrats, really happy for you both. 7 weeks that sounds really good compared to the waiting times on the first step visas.
I just did the same as I'd done on the FLR applications. Personally I would always recommend taking a bit of time to split the different documents into different categories and keep each category neatly together with paper clips and bulldog clips. Also use a front index for each category. I had "Important Documents" (things such as English test, Life in the UK test, Cover letter, Marriage cert etc), then "Accommodation", "Correspondence" and "Financial". I always go on the theory that if you send them a neat, well presented application they'll get through it quicker than something that is just a random pile of papers in an envelope.
Thanks for that. I might do the same thing I've done when I applied for my FLR(M), almost same as yours but used sticky notes.
Our 2 files were identcal and read like a book. Contents page at the front Then Application electronic hardcopy then all info with regard to the applicant and sponser all in life order Birth certificates Widow documents Divorce docs Marriage English test Then finance We hilited all the wages paid in on the statements and the amounts on the payslips (easy reference) P60 Then the bits and pieces such as letters in our names and the authorisation forms. We also had a point to pre empt so that went at the very front. Oddly as my wifes daughter is eith us on a differant visa timeline they wanted some info on her. The odd bit was they asked for her fathers birth certificate! This isnt asked for on the paper form nor was it asked for on our first FLR and as he has been deceased 13 years and my wife is now estranged from his family it was going to be impossible to provide. The above points tried to preempt the fact they were missing in the files.
Yeah. Yours was more complicated than ours, I think. Actually, we might have got it in less than 6 weeks but took a while to give biometrics as my wife was giving birth when the letter arrived! It's been a good month.
This was one of our issues before in online app @Mattecube, that's why we resorted to paper form. Who would want to ask an ex for their birth cert? Included info about my brit stepson (as required) but they still want us to submit his mom's birth cert?
