This is on tonight. We may see a few Filipinos on this program. I had posted this in another thread but felt it warranted a separate thread.

    Is Covid Racist?

Monday at 9pm on Channel 4

    SUMMARY
A&E medic Dr Ronx sets out to understand why so many NHS colleagues who died from coronavirus came from Black, Asian and minority ethnic groups. Featuring stories of frontline workers who have lost their lives, and a striking visual tribute in memory of many more, Dr Ronx asks what is being done to protect frontline BAME workers.

    From the Telegraph:

“Is Covid-19 racist? This is the question that Dr Ronx Ikharia, an emergency medical doctor and presenter, has set out to answer in their new Channel 4's documentary. “When I speak to people on the street and ask is coronavirus racist, they say ‘of course it is’,” explains Dr Ronx, who uses the pronouns their/them.

“The virus itself is not racist. It’s not finding black people to make unwell and kill. But what Covid-19 has done is highlight the inequalities that exist already within our society that make black and brown people more vulnerable and susceptible to Covid-19, which is why they’re dying at disproportionate numbers compared to white numbers.”

Government reports show that black and Asian people are twice as likely to be infected by Covid-19 compared to white people, while a third of people admitted to intensive care are BAME – a figure that has not changed since the first wave of infections. Yet the reasons for this are unclear. “

Well worth a watch if you are a Filipino in the U.K. or married to one and settled in the U.K.
