I enjoyed watching the clip, very true words spoken from an exceptional political commentator/interviewer. From what I remember he actually lives in France too.
Understandable viewpoint however http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-3486243 A man,s love and perhaps a more powerful message, "we will find each other again in the Paradise of free souls one which you (IS) will never have access too"
I've always a fan of his. Intelligent, interesting and well worth listening to. IMO That was some introduction.
He went to Paisley Grammar School and grew up in Glenburn, I grew up a hundred yards from the Grammar which was a nice part of the town then, although I suspect Mr Neil didn't grow up in the council bit of Glenburn. He's certainly one of the better known son's of Paisley.
I do wonder if complaints will be made against Andrew Neil for alleged "hate-speech" and whether the BBC will be forced to suspend him pending the outcome of a "kangaroo" inquiry.
It is an excellent program well worth watching http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b06qbkmr/this-week-19112015
I completely agree with you, Keith. Memorable for the following master class from George Galloway when Andrew Neil asked him about "shoot to kill": "Well you know me, so you would never consider me as a liberal. And I think that on these matters one has to be iron and steel hard. "One has to say that if anyone comes here with guns and bombs, our police will shoot them down and stop them. There's no room for equivocation about that at all. "Of course, a shoot to kill policy in general is a bad idea ... apart from being wrong, they don't work, they make more terrorists." "What the Labour leadership should do is be absolutely clear that when it comes to the safety and the defence of our people in our own island, on our own streets, then the police will have the full backing of the political leadership to gun them down if necessary. "I'd shoot them myself with my own hand. I'd pull the trigger myself. I'd be happy to see them all dead in the street. "These people are just about the most horrific group of people I have ever seen in my long political life and I'm damned sure I'm not going to sit idly by while they are running around up and down Piccadilly with guns and bombs." Ironically George Galloway is the one left-winger that Corbyn is striving hard to keep out of the Labour Party.
Which rules out Corbyn and McDonnell, obviously. Edit: I'll concede that Corbyn and McDonnell do have moral compasses. Of a sort. But their poles are diametrically opposed to the rest of us!
I just hope we don't have the nose dive shift that put Labour in last time as the conservatives are hitting people quite hard by wanting them to "get a job". Dealing with IS is questionable purely on the fact information is so cloudy these days on who is doing what. One day a group is IS next they are Rebels, problem with crapping on other people's doorsteps sooner or later they visit you. The problem with the UK and West generally is they don't like the word "empire" as such want to be an empire without actually being one which is why these problems exist.
