It's that internet speed isn't it!

Back then, I used to consider 10 mbps dl already fast.

Now I'm complaining about 35 mbps being slow. Hahahah.

But wow Boots, that wifi speed in Makati is something else!!!!

Is that a true speed or is someone pulling our little one? :)

My BT cable (fibre) Broadband... recently installed, is running at around 35-40 mbps download and 10-11mbps upload. Limited now by my old clockwork desktop PC. :(
Wi-fi link speed is 150 mbps.

I think that is theoretically possible with 802.11 ac but I am very far from being up to date with 802.11 standards these days so I could not state this as being true with any certainty.

It would certainly be fun to see a speed test like that, next time I am in Greenbelt I will test it, but that is likely to be a long time from now.

There are numerous 802.11 standards these days and it might be one of the other ones.

When 5G comes along in a few years time all these speed limits will change whether we see a benefit in cost is another matter.

While you can increase over the air speeds the internet's backbone is fibre and the issue is total traffic, there are several limits, raw bandwidth, server throttling on downloads, capacity of the internet routers and your own PC's ability to process data amongst others.

All of these have improved beyond all recognition in the last decade but ultimately there are limits, with so many people streaming video data all the time the infrastructure is under a great deal of pressure, but the investment in that infrastructure is huge and it is trying to rise to the challenge hopefully the net itself will keep up with demand.

You must live in a good area Graham as I'm only getting 33.1 Download and 2,2 upload with BT.

I'm guessing you are quite close to the exchange, those are the correct speeds for the average fibre connection, as I mentioned I was disappointed that I didn't get that.

I'm actually lower on the download speed than the Sky guarantee, I should challenge them on it, oddly during the day (working week day) the speeds are much worse as low as 20Mb/s download, lucky I don't work for myself any more and no longer from home.

Im not sure but locality to the BT green fibre boxes makes a difference. Im making an assumption as there is one just 200 to 300 metres away and im generally just 1 meg shy of the 52 meg maximum.

I used to live in Putney Health and there I got 76 Download and 20 upload - it depends where you live, doesn't it!
