http://www.independent.co.uk/news/w...n-businessman-ji-blackmail-wife-a7533666.html Story emerging from the RP and appearing in The Independent today.
Having read that so-called story, I'm not surprised that the Independent has ceased publication as a print newspaper. As a piece of journalism, it sucks. When is this alleged killing supposed to have taken place? Who or what is "ABC-CBN"? (Yes I know it should have been written as "ABS-CBN")
It says in the report October. https://www.rt.com/news/374091-businessman-killed-philippine-police/ also gives a date of October. http://www.ibtimes.sg/philippine-police-kill-south-korean-businessman-take-100000-ransom-family-6574 Claims that South Koreans are often targetted, and that 50 have been killed since 2012. The source appears to be the National Police spokesman, who spoke to Agence France. http://www.ibtimes.sg/philippine-police-kill-south-korean-businessman-take-100000-ransom-family-6574
The Russia Today article's claim that the Philippine Police "is one of the nation's most corrupt institutions" is mostly true and definitely true of Cebu and the National Capital Region. I'm bound to say, though, that Koreans are probably the most unpopular of all foreigners in the Philippines due to the manner in which they treat their hosts. Several Koreans lost their lives in Cebu whilst I was living there and their deaths weren't investigated as assiduously as they might have been.
One strange thing which has left me slightly confused about Chinese and Korean tourists..(Ive heard all the stories) They are without a shadow of a doubt the nicest, trouble free customers that we have had.. Perhaps we have just been lucky.. No idea.
