And its ice cream wars, which I am sure you are alluding too :D

I grew up with Italian ice cream vendors arriving every night, a high point of every day particularly during the school holidays :)

Talking about ice cream vendors in Glasgow, what happened to the Barrowlands?

Selecta ice cream is now part of Unilever which also owns Walls, hence the similar logos.

Walls was part of Lever Brothers, which merged with Dutch company Unie long long time ago to form Unilever, so in my lifetime they've always been Unilever :)

The Barrowlands is still there as far as I know, I only occasionally went up the Barra's on a Saturday to try to find second hand bargains when I was a teenager.

Well there appear to be plenty of gigs on over the next few months, I never went to a concert in the Barrowland's ballroom, in my era it was the Glasgow Apollo where all the major bands played.

I used to go a few times to pick up a bargain or two (collectables). Long time ago now.
