Highly recommended... We 'discovered' this gem last year on a short break to 'the Island'. Returned last weekend for a Filipino food 'fix', using the Red Funnel Red-Jet (foot passengers only) service from Southampton to (West) Cowes as it's much cheaper than the car ferry service...! You definitely need to book - it is only a small establishment, run by (Brit) Husband and Wife team, Rick & Cris. Whilst we were there, they had to turn away several 'walk-in' booking enquiries!
my wife knows a lot of filipinos here on the I o W. A lot work at St Marys hospital. We live in Ryde--about 9 miles from the main town Newport.
Next time you’re coming over, let us know and we could meet up. Same goes for anyone else visiting the island.
Used to go there on holiday, about 60 years ago now D) , Gurnard Pines , nice pool, good events, machines, snooker, darts... lol list goes on and on eh!
in recent years Gurnard Pines has morphed into a permanent residential " park". People have bought holiday chalets for all year round living on the cheap. But the site electricty is turned off in the winter months. To get round this residents have bought their own generators.
Ahhh... that's what they do - Whilst home hunting I noticed a holiday place in Dorset - like a Chalet for £60,000 but it said you can only live in it for 10 months of the year or something - they were trying to encourage people to buy it as a home come AirBnB investment place - when I first saw it I thought it was a good deal for the price but they have pretty heavy service charges etc... but I guess if just cut the electric for 2 months a generator would suffice.
