Etihad flights our most recent trip with these, good flights good staff online bookings went fine, connections good, shame about the rude passengers.

There is more to consider than saving a few £ on the ticket price. I booked tickets for my family last year London/Seychelles/London. Carrier was Emirates but I booked through an online booking agent. In my haste I inadvertently made the booking in my daughters maiden name. OMG what a drama ensued. The booking agent made life so difficult requiring us to send endless emails and make several calls to the head office in Canada of all places, spending ages on hold. They claimed that they were not able to change the name and that we would to cancel and rebook, which of course cost quite a lot of money plus the original fares were no longer available. I spoke directly to Emirates who were able to see the booking and whilst they would have been happy to make the changes they were unable to do so as it was booked through an agent and only the agent could process the request. Cost me a bundle and several days waiting to know if we could get seats on the flights we needed. Never again, always direct with the airline for me.

agreed if mistakes are made it can be difficult from what I have been told, thats why now I tend to just do the online thing or as you previously suggested comparing online versus carrier. This time we had the added complication that my wife and I need Heathrow Manila return and daughter need Manila Heathrow (first leg) the same flight as our return leg, did it all online worked a dream. I dont think I will be using agents going forward no need.

Etihad is who I'm thinking to fly with. It's more preferable than Kuwait airlines. And better times for me also.

I can recommend Etihad. ... Had many flights with them to Manila. Never any problems. Abu Dhabi is a nice airport with easy connection too.

I agree, you cannot go far wrong with Etihad, I've got an Emirates flight on Monday and knowing I'm transiting through the UAE makes the long journey more bearable.

I hear that they are good. I did fly Etihad from Abu Dhabi to New York 3 or 4 years ago. It was pretty good, but still a notch below Emirates in my book, plus Abu Dhabi airport doesn't hold a candle to Dubai.

I agree, Abu Dhabi is not a patch on Dubai but it is a reasonable place to spend a couple of hours in transit, the only problem I find with the airport is that it can be very crowded in departures compared with Dubai where you can always find a quiet corner if you so wish.

I alternate between Emirates and Etihad, depending upon price and convenient times, etc.

Actually, I dislike Dubai airport. It's just far too big now, and I believe passengers suffer because of it, even more so with all the current construction work.... especially if they have a short connection time. Thank goodness I'm still fit enough to walk what seems like miles around the place, even with the trains. Then last time (April) we must have been driving around the place for a full 20 minutes on the damned airport bus... to get to the plane ! :frust:

You just reminded me, yes the buses to and from the plane always take what seems to be forever, something you don't need at the end of the flight.

Always a relief if the plane disembarks at the terminal itself.

I used to joke with my wife saying I can fly to Abu Dhabi and get the bus to Dubai in the time it takes the plane to get to the terminal in Dubai.

    Matt

How did you book that online ?

As me and the wife need 2 returns from Lon - Mnl and a one way ticket from Mnl _ Lon for the princess we are bringing over ?

In this instance I used Kayak
I found the flight suitable for us that was heathrow manila return we knew that she would be coming on the return leg
I then opened up another page tab and did exactly the same
You now have 2 pages alike with the same fligt hilted on page one (yours) a departure heathrow and a departure manila note the departure Manila flight number.
For the princess select the departure date(HER FIRST LEG) the same as your departure date (Manila) and second leg can be any date you want and you can even put in a differant city that will drive the price down, we used Doha.
make sure your Manila and her Manila departure flight numbers are the same including if you are going via somewhere
IE you Heathrow Abu Dhabi flight ey134 Princess (outward) Manila Abu Dhabi flight no zx123
Abu Dhabi Manila flight ab123 Abu Dhabi Heathrow flight no yz123
Return Manila Abu Dhabi flight zx123 2nd leg Heathrow Doha flight who cares
    Abu Dhabi Heathrow flight yz123

You can see your return and her outward match exactly
On the 2 tabs enter traveller details (you and your wife)n other tab (princess)
set all the payment details up and get as far as pay on both tabs
Then hit pay on both tabs...then you will get confirmation

We selected flights where you could see number of seat availability as you dont want to hit pay and have the last 2 seats so cant get the princess ours had 7 seats available on the site.

That was it there is probably otherways direct with carrier etc but the above is how I did it this time

Haha I was going to book Kuwait Airways for 28th May as it was the cheapest to Manila but decided on Etihad as my fiancee has a relative who works, there so when she comes to UK she can hopefully get a discount.

Via mactan (cebu) travel tax 1620 and terminal fee of 750
