Clark has a travel tax as well .

Ended up gettin a one way out of Manila ...it cost more than my return ticket but we are only doing this once , i have to say booking one way childs tickets is quiet restrictive .

I've only flown out from there once (last month). It makes sense for me, as we live north of there.

No problems, and I will do so again, if the ticket price is ok (Emirates).

There is a dedicated aircon jeepney service based at its own little departure room at the Malabacat bus terminal, that will carry you and your bags out to Clark for 100 pesos fixed price... so avoiding the ripoff taxi mafia.

If arriving at the airport... the jeepney is white, and quite distinctive.

One way tickets from the Philippines are eye wateringly expensive. Return tickets are also not cheap. Such a shame we cannot get labourer or seaman prices. Perhaps a local ticketing agent will sell you those fares?

This is something I've been checking a lot recently. It is cheaper overall to fly over to Singapore or Hong Kong and get a separate ticket from there.

Hainan Airways have a cheap fare of £270 from HK to Manchester via Beijing. Norwegian a similar price from Singapore direct to Gatwick.

So far, I've decided that the hassle of transferring in China plus the cost of getting to HK is not worth it. I'd go with the Norwegian option, but arrival time in the UK is not great for going up to Manchester.

Therefore, Emirates from Clark one stop via Dubai is #1 option. About £200 higher for the 2 tickets, but I'll swallow that to avoid a 3rd flight and escaping the ball ache of Manila.

I think that is a wise decision.

I would also point out though (if it will make you feel better, lol), that in real terms those air tickets are cheaper than they've ever been.

My first visit to the Phils was in 1990, and the going rate was £600-700 THEN, return.

used Kuwait three years in a row between 2005-7, because at that time I was splitting my time evenly between Thailand and the Philippines and I could use their flight as like a free shuttle service between the two countries. I would fly from London via Kuwait to Bangkok, get off for a month, get on again to the Philippines for three months, and then back again to Bangkok for another month in Thailand.

at that time, they had a weird scheduele. The flight actually ended up in Jakarta, so it was London-Kuwait-Bangkok-Manila-Jakarta so it was like a multi-national OFW bus. 90% of the people that got on in Kuwait, were returning OFW's from both the Philippines and Indonesia.

then they changed the pricing so that you had to pay an extra 75 quid each time you wanted to get off, so that was them out of the window.

I don't miss them. They are, or were at least then, a terrible airline, bad food, ugly planes, and crap entertainment. Kuwait airport was also a nightmare. I wondered how such a rich country could have such poor facilities.
