Did you not visit the Geology Museum? Its right in amongst them. Having said that it looks like it merged with the Natural History Museum......
I agree. I am a big fan of London. I lived and worked there for the first 20 years of my life. It is the country's capital and its ours and it has a lot to offer. Sure, it has its drawbacks but there isn't anything comparable except capital cities of other countries. But I would never dream of living in the city itself. Too expensive and yes the roads are horrendous. My wife thoroughly enjoyed our visit to London. Though I am not certain she would have wanted to traipse around the museums for a couple of days.
There's an interesting (well for me) programme on TV called 'Eddie Stobart: Trucks & Trailers'. It's on Channel 5. All the drivers just hate any assignment in London. This week one of the jobs was to pick up the Piccadilly Lights for storage. The road the driver needed to negotiate was one-way, very narrow, littered with bollards and parked cars and with a shared loading bay (often already being used) Fascinating story and interesting viewing. Some great drivers around (as well as some crap) I don't suppose you ever watch that Mike. Do you? The featured driver's pet hate is never having specific enough directions to their destinations
Just like to say thanks to everyone so far for al the input, advice and ideas that you've all come up with. Just wish I had more time to research everything, bloody work keeps getting in the way!!!
Just had a look at train prices. i thought lets treat ourselves and look at 1st class. This is travelling from Nueaton to Euton, a journey of 1hr to 1hr 20min depending on the time of day. Return for 2 people. Ready Wait for it £457!!!!!
I watched one episode a long time ago Peter and it seemed full of Stobbies brown noses. I did a couple of shifts for them recently and did not enjoy it. The shift is usually 15 hours which is OK but the attitude of their people in transport when we get back is dreadful. They shout at people and, as I am not one to shrink, I end up shouting back. This is the last thing you need after 15 hours.... I know many agency drivers who refuse to go back because of their attitude. Not having good directions is par for the course in 90% of the jobs I do. A few of the supermarkets (Tesco, Asda and Sains) have excellent maps/directions. Like a lot of things IMHO, TV programmes don't reflect real life very much.
I have two friends, both HGV drivers, both hooked up with Filipinas, both of whom say exactly the same! I keep trying to get John and Steve to come here, but they are a bit reluctant, probably due to bad experiences in other places...
Stu has it right! Anyway perhaps I can persuade them to join in if Kuya sets up a "Friends (?) of Eddie Stobart" sub-forum!
Nah just thought thats what it ciould be. I'd love a Pedi but unfortunately I'm at work until the 11th april so it'll be the 12th before a get a pint of god's chosen, hic!
Why first class, if one looks around, one could go for a fiver Manchester to London on the National express coach. https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&r...1YHgAg&usg=AFQjCNGm4CFrI4TBcK99L712iGls0GOcFQ
Used them once and vowed never again. I'm a reasonabily tall, broad chap and can't fit very into bus seats. Plus coaches seem to take an age to get anywhere.
