We were so lucky to enjoy unique special times. I guess anyone can say the same but our generation secured the germination so to speak Well that's what think anyway
Totally agree!! Here, in my opinion, one of the most overlooked, underrated bands of all time. I luv 'em!! Al.
Ooops! wrong song. I have forgotten how to delete a thread. Anyway, thetrack I meant to post was the following. Al.
" nod off Soddy" lol being from Wolverhampton--so i was never a fan back then. however--for a real brum band-----
I liked pretty much everything from UB40 and always liked Kingston Town, but this next one was probably a stroke of genius IMHO
Am I allowed to bring a bit of humour into the thread ? It's Brummie humour and features Blackpool The Lyrics are wonderful and very funny. Thanks Jasper...... Worth a listen.
ha ha ha--brill--ive never heard that carrot song before. UB40--superb--ive got several albums meanwhile--back at the carrot------
I happened to see most of the performance of Jethro Tull at the 1970 Isle of Wight festival along with the Moody Blues and Jimi Hendrix If I remember right there was also The Who, and The Doors I have both good and not so good memories of that special time. I do remember being disappointed by Jimi Hendrix and a bit embarrassed by the Leonard Cohen performance who I'd raved about before hand. Still enjoyed the experience. It was always said to have been biggest ever UK festival. Anyone else there ? I was the one with long blond hair
For those forum members that reside in the UK, tune into Freeview channel 242 Vintage TV, it shows a lot of documentaries on a lot of the above singers/groups you have shown video clips of. It really is a brilliant channel for those of us that like the older music and enjoy seeing video clips with interviews with the band members and people involved in their music. Only this week I have watched documentaries on Jethro Tull, Slade, Elvis and the Rolling Stones Note that you have to have a smart TV connected to the internet to receive the channel, I just set mine up to connect wirelessly.
Cannot be beaten, my favourite Elvis song, I would have loved to have seen him live in Vegas in the seventies (I think one of the members here did, can't remember who).
The early 70's was special to me also, especially 1973. I walked into a very special music shop in Chester that year and, after chatting for a while, asked the owners to recommend something. They told me to buy "Eat A Peach" by the Allman Brothers and the rest is history. Duane Allman is still my favourite guitarist (Clapton's also): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duane_Allman
