Major outage at our hosting company

    Seems there is still some outfall from the catastrophic server failure. The hosting company is aware and trying to resolve the issue. Thanks for you patience.

    i keep getting bad gateway on the screen. or--its very slow loading if i try to post.

    And when you click on Post Reply are you sometimes posting two identical messages because you keep having to click the Post Reply button? :D

    No nothing was lost Dom, though some people might have given up trying to send a particular post when the server was acting up.

    It seems that we have ongoing server problems. Yesterday and today I've been experiencing a succession of "504 - Bad Gateway" responses or no responses at all. It took me 35 minutes to post one message late last night and, as far as I'm concerned, our site has been mostly unreachable today up to now.

    Ditto, a tell tale sign is usually the program hanging when you hit the "Post Reply" button, then you end up with two or three duplicate posts which you then struggle to delete :)

    I also had problems earlier today aroun 12:30 BST with very slow responses. It seems to have improved now.

    The backups occur at a totally different time, so it is not related to that, pretty much everything else is outside our control.

    They are having issue but it is impossible to tell if they are related to what you are reporting : https://help.fasthosts.co.uk/app/systemstatus/

    I've been beset by frequent "Bad Gateway" and "No response from Gateway" type errors all morning and I've just had to delete 3 duplicate messages.

    There appears to be no handling of 500-series errors by the forum software and thus operations such as message posting failures arising out of (for example) a non-responsive server aren't being trapped.

    Until the recent major outage, everything was fine and the server mostly very responsive. Since the outage, it feels as though a tortoise could be a faster messenger!

    I've lost count of the number of "504 Bad Gateway" and "504 Gateway Time-out" errors I have encountered here today. That's in addition to numerous "502" and "500" errors dished-up by the host. Andrew, Tim and I - and others, I guess - have been beset by problems with posting messages which has led to multiple copies appearing posting. I've given-up trying to delete my duplicates due to the lack of response by the server.

    Is the hosting company aware of these problems and are they going to fix them anytime soon?
