Hard to say who has done what here really but he is going to be waiting a fair while for his day in court I'd of thought.

Six years after leaving Scotland to pursue a Filipina he met online, 61-year-old Frank Bohlert has found himself loveless, penniless and inside a cramped prison cell in the Philippines.

The divorced father-of-one initially found success in his newly adopted country, and was able to set up Twilights Rock Bistro, a business that he and his online sweetheart, Arlyn, managed for several years

In the words of my poor departed Father. There are always two sides to the story, and then there's the truth! Don't pity him for a minute though.

If he was a close relative of mine I would find his wife and offer her 50k to immediately withdraw the complaint before he is officially charged.. Cash released on his release.
There is little to no justice in the R.P BUT most of the time, money talks.

The best favour anyone can do this guy is get the advice I provided delivered to the family ASAP..
Tell them it`s the only chance of his early release..
Sorry..I`m really busy at present...plus I did far more than my bit for the Taylors way back when.
Don`t forget..If he is officially charged..He`s in the system..= screwed for many years to come.

If your wife loves you and you do not treat the locals with disrespect..You`ll be fine!
Otherwise..Like this guy..You could be screwed!

One other thing..It may be totally unrelated to the allegation and why he`s locked up but I did check his FB business page and he was advertising that his bar was employing GRO`S.

His real name was not attached to any messages on FB on that page but if it took me 20 seconds to work out who it was, then how much longer the local authorities?
The Philippines is a vast archipelago..An hours flight from her family and I personally guarantee your safety..(unless your wife`s family are local and wealthy Oligarchs!!)
One guarantee in life...We are all gonna die eventually..Just a matter of how and when.
Just lately, fortunately for me, I was not a big country western fan and in Las Vegas recently.

His advertising for GROs appears several times on his FB page and isn't exactly subtle. He has also posted photos of several GROs who work there.

I'd lay a wager that the girlfriend caught him in delicto flagrante: as an interviewing technique, it is not to be recommended!

    Who knows??
His wife may have been a former GRO?
I`m not judging anyone...All pure conjecture at this point. Even if she was a GRO when she met him, thats not enough to have him locked up and bitten 24/7 by mosquitoes whilst sweating his balls off on a 2" mattress!!
I`m actually shocked he has that luxury.

There are ways to get out of this mess - both legally and not so legally. As mentioned, paying off the GF will work. Good lawyer also works. Intimidation by the british consulate also works.

And if there is no case filed against him, a dumb lawyer can get him out of jail. I dont know why he doesnt insist that he goes out of jail since he isnt 'charged' of anything.

There are more to this than what is being reported. Nearly everyone that i know in ph knows that everyone can get out of jail even for murder case, or other heinous crimes (hence a 'domestic case' should be peanuts).

There seems to be a bit of misreporting in the NextShark story. I don't think he's being held at Bagong Diwa Jail which is in fact a maximum security prison located in Bicutan, Taguig as is another notorious detention centre run by Bureau of Immigration. In fact both facilities are part of the same compound known as Camp Bagong Diwa.

The BOI detention centre is the former extermination camp for opponents of the Marcos regime. It is overcrowded, there's no privacy and nowhere to exercise. Never formally charged with a crime, some of the 150 or so foreigners held there disappear into an opaque legal whirlpool and remain locked up for years or even decades. These inmates are known as The Forgotten and they include among their number Douglas Slade, the notorious co-founder of the Paedophile Information and who's wanted in Britain for a list of child sex abuse charges.

Frank Bohlert will not be leaving that place anytime soon. The Bureau of Immigration works above the law and normal legal niceties such as Habeas Corpus do not apply. As for Human Rights for foreign detainees - forget it, there are none. The only language understood is that of money, preferably by the sackful and in large denomination notes.

I thinks it has been discussed before but Slade got an easy let off (probably paid for it) by being deported back to the UK

If a lawyer goes in there demanding that there is no charge...One will appear. Sure as eggs are eggs.
You may think its cut and dry and he could easily get out of there but in truth,as a foreigner,he`s in a very precarious situation.

I understand what you mean but i also know that money talks a lot in ph. It can buy good lawyer and freedom. Nothing about ph justice system is 'cut and dry' and thats the reason why a lot resort other means.

Im just guessing that there is more it to this than being reported.

Ouch, there's many an advice column warning westerners about buying bars with their girlfriends. I don't think I read that they were married either
