1.7% of the population vaccinated fully I think?Things always move slowly in the PI.

It could be on a red list for several years in my opinion, it will depend on continued quarantine measures and the vaccine programme, the quarantine alone clearly is not going to completely suppress the virus so it's going to be a long haul.

So please, where can Filipino's travel to at the moment?

I saw a video saying Philippines is open to vaccination passport to keep in line with the rest of the world opening up to tourism, I guess then other countries must be accepting money from Filipinos?

I would like to use my marriage to get a 9a visa as 13a is closed, to gain entry to Philippines, to bring back my family. My 5 year old on a UK passport and My wife on Spouce Visa. Before Christmas. In UK this kind of travel is deemed essential, how about in Philippines?

I said before I can afford to take them to a Green or Amber (UK list) country and spend 2 weeks to wash away our sin's of being a British Filipino Family.

Hi! I think it might be cheaper if you just buy your missus a laptop in the Phils. You can buy it online and have it delivered in their place. Have you checked Lazada or Shoppee? It’s our local shopping website.

As for English lessons.. yeah, YouTube is your friend.

    Hi! Thanks bigmac.

I realized my reply was a tad bit late as TigerMights already said they already got the laptop.

Now I am figuring out how to delete my reply because apparently it’s no longer relevant. :(

We limit the time you have to edit or change posts deliberately but as Bigmac says absolutely no need to delete your post, people don't always start at the beginning of a thread and read the whole thing sometimes they just stumble over a specific post and your advice was and is perfectly good advice.

Also welcome to the forum :welcome:

Chuckle, chuckle... welcome to Leyte !

Tiger - I've been here about 10 years now, have two 7 and 9 and can understand where you're coming from.

Fortunately I live here so I can and do give my kids English and Maths - Monday to Saturday:

Free Maths Workbooks here https://www.mathinenglish.com/ - think they are from Singapore...

Free English Workbooks here https://www.english-4u.de/ - looks like from Denmark but surprisingly good

They give all the answers too - pity my wife doesn't do the English ones :D

Sending computers and phones here from the UK is not a very good idea - where do they take it back to?

So like someone else said - get yourself an account on LAZADA or SHOPEE

Probably best to set up a VPN, change your location to Philippines then you'll get directed to the right site and see the prices in Pesos...

Only order items that have 4-5* ratings and have been rated by at least 100 others, if you can, and you should be ok.

    For the Passport verification:
"professional job, known her for 2 years, ideally with UK passport, in her province" ...

Either their doctor or teacher... check they have a passport (Filipino is ok - we used one of the Nun's at their school)...

This is not the UK - Just be prepared to pay another P 1,000 and bend the rules a little here and there to get it done.

For the UK, you'll be asked if the child has any other passport and you'll need to send it off... see below:

    Birth Certificate:
Getting the birth certificate sorted first is the right thing to do.

Then perhaps you could apply to get the child's Filipino passport (again?) with your surname on it. I got my wife's passport changed to her UK name too but it's not absolutely necessary.

    Waiting:
I've just renewed my kids passports and it only took 2-3 months... the original applications back in 2015 took well over a year and they verified everything - other's have said the same but maybe it's easier now.

Perhaps in the meantime you may want to try and sort out an internet connection for her - it used to be really difficult but now they have these long range transmitters and stuff like that... so it is possible if you know what you're doing...

ps. From my own experience... even if it's Chinese crap send them something new - if you send secondhand stuff it looks like you're poor or being tight :D

I live here in the Philippines and have a 5 year-old son.

'Peppa Pig' is very popular with my boy and his friends...and spoken in very good, clear English, of course.

In the absence of internet there, perhaps buy up some DVDs at your local UK charity shops...plus other cheap goodies (that could be added to and shipped out in a 'Balikbayan Box'.

I agree with the suggestion about setting up a Lazada account. I order stuff from them every week practically. We live out in the countryside, but deliveries always reach us, and choice and prices are good.

As far as sending stuff here: Look into sending a 'Balikbayan box'. Easy, and very cheap, considering the size, and capacity of these boxes. They are shipped by sea . Takes about 10 weeks to get delivered to your partner's door. I'm just waiting for one now.

Good luck with the British passport. You'll get there in the end. I did NOT tell the Passport Office that my boy already had a Filipino passport (therefore did not have to have him without it for weeks or months)...but up to you.

    UPDATE:
    Laptop and phone arrived.
DNA swabs taken and after a long long time, are now on their way to the UK. Had problems with DHL and was forced to use Royal Courier because they are the ones that can magically obtain a Bureau of quarantine certificate. cost to ship back P22500.

UK child passport may take up to 3 months.

Philippines still red listed, meaning I need to find out which non visa countries (Amber) are accepting filipinos to visit as tourist if any.
    What rules do they have?

Please; are there any Filipina leaving the phils on spouse visas? there must be some, where are they going? Any American or Australians or Canadians having better luck?
I would love to hear your travel experiences during this pandemic. I need to hear similar having success stories.

Is anyone else waiting to travel? Do you also need to know where to take her and/or yourself for an Amber washdown/cleanse.

    Sorry Late Update:

Dna results came in on the 1st of July, they were promptly sent off to Liverpool UK, for our child's Passport application, it has been 5 weeks now, hopefully only another 3 weeks to go.

Ang aking Asawa flew to Manila for her TB test which is negative, soon she will go to cebu for ielts. I've just asked her to also do the Biometrics and she looked shocked!

I want to avoid her going back to province until after everything is done because a two week quarantine is waiting for her there.

Question, VFS Global, are they walk in or are they appointment only? I want to avoid her going back to province, quarantining and then having to go back to Cebu and then quarantining second time.

    ALSO GREAT NEWS:

I have found out by emailing my local Minister of Parliament and he asked my questions to the Home Office on my behalf. here is the reply.

"Thank you for your email. In response, our policy officials say:

Based on the information provided by Mr, the relevant points are:

    · Both passengers (Wife and Child) need to be properly documented for travel to the UK i.e. passport and appropriate visa

    · Travel arrangements for an unaccompanied minor are a matter for the airline

    · If travelling from the Philippines (red list):

o Holders of spouse visas can travel to the UK (i.e. they are treated as residents)

o Visitors cannot travel to the UK

o On arrival, passengers must quarantine in a managed hotel

o If a child is travelling unaccompanied, DHSC must be informed at least 14 days in advance and an appropriate adult must quarantine in a hotel with them. Details here: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/booking...XwJnwMXVpweU3iMHou3fYh4wxMDeOPIAE=&reserved=0

    · If travelling from Thailand (amber list):

o Passengers must have left the red list country more than 10 days previously for amber status to apply

o They must self-isolate at home for 10 days

    · Requirements for pre-departure tests and post-arrival test bookings apply irrespective of route to the UK (children aged 10 and under do not need to take a pre-departure test; children aged 4 and under do not need post-arrival tests)

Additionally, DHSC has policy responsibility for quarantine hotels, and DfT is the relevant department for queries about the traffic light system for international travel.

I hope the above is of assistance to your constituent.

MORE GREAT NEWS: Children included with parent in UK quarantine hotel at discount price.

    How does hotel quarantine work?

Travellers self-identify in advance. Everyone from the red list countries must pre-book a room through a dedicated online portal, at a cost of £1,750.

The price includes transport from the airport to the “government-approved facility” (the hotel), three meals a day, security and testing. During their stay those quarantining will undergo two Covid tests: one on day two, the next on day eight. Those who test positive are likely to have their stay extended, unless hospital treatment is needed.

The cost for additional people in the same room is significantly less than the rate. A second adult pays £650, and £325 for a child aged 5-12. Over 12s are counted as adults, under fives are free.

Because direct flights from red list locations are banned, passengers are arriving from a wide range of intermediate locations – for example via Madrid from Latin America.

Every arriving traveller must complete a passenger locator form in which they reveal to UK Border Force the countries they have been to in the past 10 days.

Hi guys and galls, here's the back story as its been a while, We met in 2015, kid born 2016, I gifted my partner a year to enjoy being a mother around family in the province without any push for progress, my partner got her first passport sorted a year later, I met my child for the first time in 2018. My child's Philippine passport was received 6 months later. We married January 2020, met my kid for 2nd time. Then the pandemic, we did the kid's DNA, throughout 2021 we was trying to get our child's first British passport, it arrived at the end of December 2021, we begin spouse Visa, Bio First week of February, Putin invades Ukraine, Priority withdrawn 600 pounds down the pan, told to wait max 120 days, Yesterday 30th June 2022 my wife's vignetted passport is retrieved by her. Note the expiry is 29th December 2022...

So were in somewhat of a pickle.

She has less than 6 months validity on her passport and there is no way we can extend validity in the Philippines as that service ceased pre- pandemic; October 2019 so I'm told.

also; although I've been told she can travel directly as UK has no problem with her traveling on a passport that is valid, unfortunately there aren't any direct flights. best flight I've seen 18.5 hours through Thailand. Do they allow people to pass through with only 5 months remaining on passport?

Would the officials in manila airport let her travel?

I told her to book an appointment for renewal in Manila, earliest possible date August 16th with collection 12 working days after.

I then asked her to look into if its possible that an appointment for passport validity extension or renewal at the Philippines embassy in London would be enough hoping that an official looking appointment would indicate honest intentions to deal with it as soon as she can in the UK. alas here I am asking you. Please help this 7 year hell has not ended as soon as I thought it would.

EDIT: My partner has Leave to Enter, as Partner (standard) from 2nd July 2022 to April 2025 but the vignette is valid only 90 days. otherwise pay to transfer.

Did I mention HMPO lost my passport, birth cert, driving licence, marriage certificate, DNA test result and personal photos ect ect basically the extensive list of requirements that they asked for to give our child their British Passport. I have a letter from HMPO admitting fault.

If you book a through ticket ie. You don't enter the transit country and stay airside for the duration then only issues should be airlines and with a right to enter visa I don't think it would be an issue. The 18 hours you mentioned means must be staying airside ie you check in at Manila including luggage, get two sets of boarding passes and don't see luggage until arrive in UK.

As such shouldn't matter in Bangkok, Qatar or Dubai. Majority of people emigrating will need to renew passports overseas although need to be aware of time taken to do it. Few months to get an appointment in London and then two to three months to get passport back.

I'd ask the airlines on policy with an emigration visa and would expect them to give a thumbs up.
