MANILA - The alleged leader of the Baliwan drug ring, which operates in Marawi City and the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, was arrested during a buy-bust operation in Davao City Saturday.

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) operatives seized 50 grams of suspected shabu worth P600,000 from suspect Fatima Daud Baliwan.

Baliwan is the incumbent chairperson of Barangay Kapimpilan in Maguindanao and is married to Kabuntalan, Maguindanao Mayor Muslimin Baliwan, according to PDEA-Davao spokesperson Noli Nephi Dimaandal.

"We consider her as a high value target," Dimaandal said.

Arrested with Baliwan were her son Norodin and relative Noria Dayao.

The suspects were charged with violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Report from Berchan Louie Angchay, ABS-CBN News
