My minor daughter (aged 12) will be travelling to the Philippines with my husband (her stepdad). They dont have the same family name. My daughter holds the last name of her biological dad. Will this be an issue when traveling out of UK? What requirements do I have to send?

What does that mean? I think lawfully he is - based on the fact that my husband and I are married.

Sorry didnt completly ask the question yes he is a step father due to the fact he is married to you but it would strengthen the arrangement for travel if she has been adopted by him.

We are in the process. The case has not been decided yet.

Place were most likely to have issues is immigration control and whilst a while since traveled out of UK don't think there is much checks leaving. Definitely worth holding things such as marriage and birth certificates to show relationship and letter from you authorising travel.

May be more of an issue coming back in terms of leaving Philippines.

Are you adopting in Philippines or in UK ? And have you plans to change name to husband's name ? If so worth being aware of UK passport office policy on passports in different names.

The good thing is that the Philippines recognises The Hague convention on the subject of child adoption and so recognises the UK stance on adoption and step children. That said you may still encounter issues at point of entry or departure by an over zealous immigration officer.

I would consider completing a letter as described in link below(you can design your own to suit your circumstances) and have it stamped by a solicitor, also your marriage certificate birth certificates copy of biometric page of mother, if staying with reletives in Philippines contact information.
