Actually i was pleasantly surprised at the state of Marrakech there was very little litter around, they have street cleaners and most shopkeepers seem to take pride in keeping there shop front area clean for themselves, plenty of Ambulances around, Police around on foot and Traffic cops out in the Desert area, we saw maybe half a dozen manual held speed cameras check points on our drive out to the Atlas Mountains, yes pleasantly surprised at the infrastructure, in no way can Marrakech be described as 3rd world, obviously the Medina Market area is centuries old and probably has not changed much over the centuries, out in the desert the small villages are obviously very much the same as years ago, what you could not see in the pics from the Balloon are that many of the properties that we passed over during the 40 minute flight actually had there own swimming pools.
What a pleasant surprise to read that after what I saw in Casablanca. Seems like they make an effort where the tourists are!
Most info on the web recommends getting local cash from an ATM on arrival as it’s a closed currency. Don’t suppose you have any left you would like to sell, it would be handy to have a little on arrival as I will no doubt have to tip the taxi to the hotel !
