Good luck, but I wouldn't even consider running a business in the Phils unless you are already an experienced 'business person'. You will also need some sort of work permit. Pretending to be 'helping out' your Mrs will only wash for so long.
Jack.. Best advice I can give you is to live in the R.P for 6 months to one year and just observe and ask questions. Search the country for foreigners that are operating businesses here successfully (probably with their wife).. If you find some and you think you have what it takes..Emulate that business model! Believe me..They do exist.
