So, the final step is now complete. After five and a half years, Mrs M is now a British citizen. Fast as the time went, I don't envy those just beginning this immigration journey, but it's amazing how quick the time flies and you get to this point. Just how much people know about the Spouse rules was evident when the person performing the ceremony asked her, in an informal pre-ceremony chat, how long she'd lived in the UK and then, after being told, asked why it took her so long to decide to become a citizen. Anyway, we're all done and dusted now! No more paper bank statements cluttering up the house, and no taking of biometrics and printing of payslips needed any more!
