If that's satay chicken it's sacrilege to eat it without peanut sauce, in fact I think it's against the law

What does your GP have for breakfast? It depends on your GP. This GP had this for breakfast this morning, Fried Eggs and Bacon. This GP is one that reverses the adverse health conditions of its patients. Her surgery is in Hounslow.

I've told John my story in PM's, when I worked for the SSEB (South of Scotland Electricity board) in Glasgow I cycled to work every day from Paisley to Glasgow Cathcart and back 16 miles a day I got down to 22 mins for each leg of the journey, I was 11.5 stone in those days, the fitness remained with me for over 4 years until I got into my current profession a sedentary job working in front of a computer all day when my weight quite rapidly increased.

1986 about November before I started cycling to the SSEB probably about 12.5 stone. (my daughter Gemma and her mum Shona)

1988 Glasgow Garden Festival after I had been cycling to work for a year I'm about 11 stone here.

This is Christmas 1999 by this time I was 17 stone and although I don't look that bad in this there was only one period of time when I worked for myself when I was less than 17 stone.

And this was that period of time I was 16stone 4lbs in this shot in 2006
    [IMG]

I'm 5' 10' actually I think I have started the old age shrink so I am probably a bit less than that now.

My target would be about 12 stone, right now this morning I am 17 stone 4 lbs two years ago I was 20 stone 7 lbs, two months ago I was 19 stone dead, at Christmas 2020 I was 19 stone 7 lbs and at Christmas 2019 I was 17 stone 10 lbs, lockdown, the comfort foods and booze that I used to get through it resulted in putting on 22 lbs during lockdown.

If I am anywhere near 14 stone by Christmas that will have been a major achievement.

There is every chance you can achieve that. I say that because so many have already done it. If you can find foods to eat that you enjoy, that aren’t carby then it is totally possible. Some people stall but there seems to be ways of breaking through that. If you can get your weight down sufficiently then you will be able to sprint around a bit too.

Game changer! This creamy grain free cheese sauce is the real deal. It's so versatile and delicious with steak or poured over steamed low carb vegetables.
It's really easy to make low carb cheese sauce that is thick and creamy. No thickeners and no flour needed! You will only need heavy whipping cream, butter, shredded cheese, cream cheese, salt and pepper. If the sauce is too thick, just add a dash of water.

i have to laugh when i see all your low carb diet ideas. But not laughing at you---just the fact that these food items recommended are the exact opposite of what i had to learn not to eat years ago because of my health issues.

banned were fatty foods--meat and dairy.

but--dont worry : what goes around comes around, the main thing is a balanced diet--but less of everything.

I know. That’s the big irony. Fat (the right fats) do not make us fat. They actually improve our cholesterol too to the point that we don’t need statins. They keep us full as we leave out those carbs. We have all been told a big fat lie for a few decades and fallen for it hook line and sinker.
This is from your neighbouring PCN in Hampshire. See what they say. I am pretty certain your own PCN will be saying the same in the not too distant future.

I've been sceptical and I still am about overall safety but in terms of blood pressure mine is coming down, part of that will be the reduction in weight but it is looking a lot better than Jan/Feb.

This is for a man weighing 17 stone 4 pounds, last night going to bed I was 140/77 @ pulse of 63bpm this morning on waking up I was 126/73 @ pulse of 72bpm, I'm quite pleased with my diastolic figure, most of the time now it is hovering around 80.

Higher blood pressure at night is a bad sign but compared to the readings I saw people getting in hospital and my own hospital readings this is a huge improvement.

edit: and although with these numbers I have what would be called Isolated Systolic Hypertension I think I can probably get it a lot lower on the top end as my weight decreases.

“What if everything we’ve been told about saturated fat is fiction? And what if the “low fat, heart healthy” diet represents one of the most damaging public health recommendations in the history of our country? FAT FICTION (formerly known as BIG FAT LIE) is a film that questions decades of diet advice insisting that saturated fats are bad for us. Along the way, we'll reveal the lies we've been told about fats, learn what fats are good, what fats are bad, and what we can do to reclaim our health.”

Your blood pressure coming down does not surprise me even a tiny bit. It is absolutely expected. As a sceptic you just need to look at Dr David Unwins tweets on blood pressure reduction from low carb eating. He even has a paper on it in the BMJ.

Are you on BP medication? Because if you are you will need to deprescribe otherwise your blood pressure will drop too low if you don’t reduce your BP meds as your pressure comes down.

I have seen so many people reduce their blood pressure on low carb or keto. It is all tied together, raised blood sugar / hypertension / obesity / poor cholesterol / heart disease.

I see scepticism everywhere and it isn’t surprising however I also see people reversing their condition everywhere, so much so that I have not a jot of scepticism. Any scepticism I had I left behind after two months on a low carb approach. The results are staggering. Like a magic wand almost.

As Dr David Unwin says... if your blood sugar is good, your weight is good, your blood pressure is good and your cholesterol and lipids are good, it is difficult to see where any health risk is going to come from.
