A lot of specialists advise against alcohol on a Keto diet. There are some good articles about including one by DietDoctor, on alcohol.

    https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/keto/alcohol

Sleep deprivation seems to impact blood sugar levels. And again Diet Doctor is pretty good on this. A lot of people who monitor their blood glucose a lot, discover this to be true.

In your case Jim, you may have reached a kind of equilibrium where your new lifestyle has done its thing, given everything you have changed over the last 6 months or so. I have noticed that with myself where I make a change and it has an impact, but only to a certain new level of outcome, after which a new plateau sets in.

I have noticed that some people go down to one meal a day and get fantastic results from it, however the question is would we want to or need to go that far. Some need to and some don’t. Some need to and don’t want to.

How can we monitor our blood sugar when asleep? Many people use a CGM now which cuts out all the faffing about. However if not on prescription then they aren’t cheap. With a CGM we can soon see for ourselves what happens when asleep or during the night when we are trying to sleep.

Do you feel you need to lose much more weight Jim?

Right now as a for instance, Mrs Ash is happy even though she didn’t lose anymore weight this month as firstly her weight isn’t going back up and secondly she is getting slimmer despite the weight remaining unchanged. In other words you can still be doing yourself a power of good and improving health conditions, without losing weight.

In my case Jim, I am not as light as I would like but on balance, all in, I am at an equilibrium that I can accept. I could go Keto but prefer not to right now but accept that if I did it would be beneficial. Maybe at some point I might choose to take that next step, but am not ready for that just yet.

If the sleep deprivation is p1ssing you off (stress) then you probably are raising your blood sugars.

Last night was partially bad. My tenant who lives next to us come home at 2 am and my dogs barking at him, then we had a thunder storm which lasted most of the night, then the water pump which is overhead can be heard would not switch it self off, our tenant must have left his tap running. Now I'm tired there is someone playing loud music.

I'll just keep doing this diet not for any more weight loss but for the health benefits, if I lose any more weight then it's a bonus.

With my limited Tagalog I got the "BAWAL NA SA 2023" immediately, not allowed after 2023 or in 2023.

    Translating the image :-

"The Department of health will prohibit foods with high trans fat in 2023. some of the high foods are the pizza, cakes, cookies, french fries, doughnuts, fried chicken, coffee creamer and so on. "

I wonder if this is real or made up?

It would seem strange to leave banning the most popular foods in the country for 18 more months.

And if it is real it will be a disaster for youngsters looking for work for their first job.

That’s part of the problem. Stop the junk food in its tracks and you put people out of a job.

    I was 19 stone 7 lbs on Jan 4th.

I started LCHF on Jan 31st at 19 stone.

As of this morning I have got rid of 46 pounds or 20.87 kilograms in 174 days.

I'm used to it but like Jim my diet is quite restricted and lacks variety, mostly because I am too lazy to explore the some of the alternatives or the cooking takes too long.

Saying that most of my meals are same as I cooked before Indian curries, various Chinese dishes but all using cauliflower rice instead of real rice, the difference is I won't have things like chips or pasta or the occasional ready meal for something that is more complex to cook like I would have before.

The single biggest change is/has been stopping alcohol completely, I did have some at the end of my fortnight holiday the other week, felt ill for days after that even though it was not a lot of drink, so not going back to alcohol from now on.

I was still 15 stone 10 lbs this morning sometimes a low will only last a day before going back up a bit but when it sticks it usually means it is a real new low.

Yes, it is easy to eliminate. But good alternatives often require some cooking. My range of foods has narrowed up a bit but it works. I have got used to no chips, potatoes, pasta etc so a cooked meal including veggies but without the spuds is something we have a lot, with larger portions to make up for the missing carbs.

There's a lot of hidden sugar in the foods over here, I was surprised that some bacon had sugar in them also sausage's. Trying to eliminate those type of foods but getting fed up with eggs every morning with cheddar cheese.
Even mayo has sugar in. I'm okay with nuts I can buy them from downtown, walnuts and Brazil nuts.

Exactly Jim. Food manufacturers realise sugar sells. I have seen cooked chicken in the U.K. with added sugar on supermarket shelves. It’s a very sneaky practice that makes money but impacts people’s health.

I was shocked when I realised this. Free from additives but with added sugar and sweetener. I search for chicken slices without the added sugar.

(Maltodextrin is a polysaccharide that is used as a food additive. It is produced from vegetable starch by partial hydrolysis and is usually found as a white hygroscopic spray-dried powder. Maltodextrin is easily digestible, being absorbed as rapidly as glucose and may be either moderately sweet or almost flavorless)

Most of the bacon in the Philippines is too sweet for me I only ever rarely found nice plain bacon, even the bread is sweetened like Gardenia Loafs, although I got used to that over there.

I was surprised in the UK to find out that the sausages I had been buying in Morrisons were much higher in carbs than I thought, have since switched to a different type which is much much lower in carbs.

I found a German expat who makes deli food. The bratwurst are delicious but still not sure what goes in same as the bacon.

When I first visited the Philippines I enjoyed the Tocino. But stopped once I realised sugar was a key ingredient.

There is a lot of variety in U.K. sausage content. I always go with the lowest carb content I can find and not the cheapest.

I also noticed M and S some ready cooked chicken slices also contained added sugar, when I was in there the other day.
