Hi I want to confirm what IELTS should I need to get if I'm going to apply for uk fiancee visa? And how much will it cost? Thanks in advance
We are planning to apply for my wife's FLR at the Glasgow premium centre at the end of November.... There are meant to be new rules for FLR extension that applicants must pass at A2 level. On the Government website it gives no indication if its to be ielts for ukvi or ielts life skills A2.... "Quote" (The new A2 requirement delivers the government’s manifesto commitment to ensure that those coming to the UK on a family visa with only basic English will become more fluent over time. It will mean that the person can better engage in everyday conversation and thereby better participate and integrate in everyday life in the community. The government recognises the need to give those affected sufficient time to prepare for the new test which is why the new requirement will not be implemented before October 2016. It will therefore not affect those required to apply for further leave to remain before then. The precise timing and further details will be confirmed by the Home Office in the next few weeks and published here on GOV.UK.) The information on the www.takeielts.britishcouncil.org is confusing!! http://takeielts.britishcouncil.org/locations/united-kingdom On this page it states at the top : The fee for IELTS for UK Visas and Immigration is GBP 200. The fee for 'IELTS Life Skills' is GBP 150 That is the confusing part. On this page is clearly states that this test is for those who need to prove their English speaking and listening skills as part of their application to UK Visas and Immigration for extension to Family, Spouse or Partner visa. I called the Government helpline and the woman said I can still use the certificate the my wife used when she entered the country to prove her skills. The one she passed then was the Toeic exam. I cant say her words filled me with confidence!! We have booked the ielts Life Skills A2 which I am 99% sure is correct. Here is the list of approved test centre's. https://www.gov.uk/government/uploa...e_English_Language_Tests_and_Test_Centres.pdf My wife is sitting her test here at the Basil Paterson College, 65 Queen Street, Edinburgh EH2 4NA On the Government websites it still says an A1 pass is fine at this present time for FLR visa's https://www.gov.uk/remain-in-uk-family/knowledge-of-english quote 4. Knowledge of English You may need to prove your knowledge of the English language when you apply, unless you’re applying in a 10-year route. You can prove your knowledge of English by either: passing an approved English language test with at least CEFR level A1 in speaking and listening having an academic qualification that was taught in English and is recognised by UK NARIC as being equivalent to a UK bachelor’s degree

Jealous. those questions and having another applicant to conversate with sounds easier. But that wasn't how my speaking exam went. It was just me and the foreigner assessor. He asked me questions like (as I remember): - Do Filipinos like to dance? When do they dance? - Name something that you recently bought and where you bought it, why you bought it & why you value it. - I was also asked about marketing strategies where gender plays a role in advertisement. I have taken the Academic exam wherein most applicants were hopeful nurses. The listening, reading and writing exam were difficult. Now, I respect Filipino nurses in UK even more.
Hi...just thinking...I will probably include a supporting letter with the spouse visa adding extra info that we are in a genuine marriage etc...but have any of the ladies included a letter? The additional information section on the online application has a limited number of characters. I'm just suggesting a few brief notes not war and peace. Interested to hear what others did and anyone's thoughts please,
I think everybody has submitted a cover letter that summarizes the relationship details and intent to get married or live together in UK. And everything else you think is necessary to be explained for the visa application can be added. My Fiance and I submitted a letter of support and cover letter.
My wife sat her A2 ielts exam at the Basil Paterson college in Edinburgh 2 weeks ago... She got her results in 5 working days.
I took the exam last september 8 in IDP MANILA (Marco Polo Ortigas). They delivered the result to my house address september 17.
I have read somewhere the IELTS Life skills Test level A1 is to be superceded by level B2 from October for a spouse visa. I can't find any info on the IELTS website. Does anyone have any information please? Thanks.
Yea, its still unclear when the requirement will change from ielts A1 to ielts A2. http://takeielts.britishcouncil.org/ielts-ukvi/what-ielts-ukvi ielts A1 is for entry clearance and ielts a2 will be the new requirement for flr
Cheers, that's what I thought. I just didn't want to get caught up in the transitional period..having taken the A1 test only to find it had to be A2 because we waited a week it two before applying. Thanks again
