We're planning to apply for the fiancee visa, I already have an appointment for the TB test and I know that for the English test I would need to take the LifeSkills. However, can anyone advise me which one to take? Is it A1 or A2?
I think for the fiance visa entry it's still A1. And for the extension (flr) it's now A2. If I'm not mistaken, you can only take A2 in the UK. See link: https://www.ielts.org/what-is-ielts/ielts-for-migration/united-kingdom/ielts-life-skills
hey guys! i'm taking my ielts A1 exam tomorrow. i haven't studied my english and grammar yet and i am super nervous right now!!! i think i'm going to prepare a small script of how i'm going to introduce myself for the exam tomorrow. wish me luck guys!
Don't worry about grammar and study too much. The A1 test is just a very basic spoken test just to ensure you have a basic knowledge of English.
Hi jhen. Im taking the exam at the marco polo hotel in ortigas. Im scheduled at 1pm. How about you? Maybe wel'll bump into each there tomorrow! Good luck to us!
That's a big relief! You see, Im not really good with prepositions, been reviewing about that a lot! Hehehehe Thank you so much again!
Prepo...what? Don't worry about that stuff. If you know your name and what you had for breakfast you're half way there already.
No need to memorize scripts. Just focus on the questions during the exam. 1st and 3rd parts (in my experience) were just plain conversations. I think it's to test if you can understand and converse in English.
I just had my exam this afternoon. it was fairly easy but im still anxious for the results. I am really hoping that I passed it.
@bigmac I am now confused with IELTS. Still clueless about the ielts before applying FLR although I shouldn't worry for now.
my wife got her first flr in may 9 after we got married )--and did not have to take any ielts test. i think your confusing flr with ILR--after the first 5 years.
The Prime Minister announced on 18 January a new English language requirement for family route migrants seeking to extend their stay in the UK. Non-EEA national partners and parents on the family route will need to pass a speaking and listening test at level A2 in order to qualify, after two-and-a half-years in the UK, for further leave to remain on the five-year partner or parent route to settlement. .... The government recognises the need to give those affected sufficient time to prepare for the new test which is why the new requirement will not be implemented before October 2016. It will therefore not affect those required to apply for further leave to remain before then. See link: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/new-a2-english-requirement-in-the-family-route I've just read this. I could be wrong.
