Good day everyone, and thank you for allowing me to join.my names michael(mick) from falkirk,i lived in batangas city for 3 years from 2015 until 2018 and can't wait to go back,i miss everything except for the horrendous city traffic be it manila or batangas city.i go back usually april holy week as its only time most friends there get off work,(except this year of course).my favourite pinoy dishes are afritada and nilagababoy.however i don't know anywhere in scotland that can cook it,(konti lang tagalog),hopefully i will be able too learn more before i can eventually go back, thank you again for letting me join Mick
Hi Mick, welcome to the forum I used to know a lot of folk from Falkirk who worked in a factory in Cumbernauld which was one of my customers, and that factory was the reason I got involved with the Philippines some 22 years ago although my own personal journey started about 16 years ago. I've not been back home in Scotland for a long time. Nilagababoy, really easy to make, I had to learn last Christmas because my kid's granny was not well and I had to do the cooking, so pork Nilaga was on the menu I can dig out the recipe if you like cooking yourself My kids loved my version it was fairly authentic and all local Philippine ingredients. It was me who approved your membership, it was a delight to have a real user a real member as we get about 15 to 20 Russian bots signing up every day these days and it had been about a week since I approved any real new members
Thank you mate for approving i couldnt see where the reply was on message...that photo is making my mouth water...my friends in philippines usually make it for me when i,m over as they know i like potatoes more than rice lol,i,ll need look more in depth for philippine restaurants near i think there's one edinburgh but i like glasgow better more friendlier
Yeah Edinburgh is too posh I don't know any Filipino restaurants in Glasgow but there must be at least one, however while I was in the Phils I got into Korean food and there is a good Korean on Argyle street up at the west end near the big PC World store, I took my ex partner Ana there back in 2007 it was really good.
Cool i know argyle street i can venture up there not sure about whats open there because of the V ..but always good too take a look thanks mate
When I first got involved with the Philippines I noticed an odd similarity between a lot of Filipino dishes and a lot of Scottish dishes, it was a vague connection but kind of based on the soups and stews that are so popular there and I once was served fried spam which reminded me of Lorne sausage
Thats true nilagababoy is just like what my mum makes except she calls it sausage soup and of course has sausages instead of pork in it lol
he--welcome to the site. nilagababoy. i recognised the baboy bit. i thought my wife was referring to me as her " bad boy". now i know different.
