Will we have a Big 7, or do we still have a Big 6 but Arsenal have now dropped out?

Can see the clubs pushing for more Champions League reform. Assuming Newcastle push their way back into the top 4 in the next few years, we will routinely see 1 of Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd and Man City miss out on Champions League football every year. The Super League might be dead, but the craving those big clubs have for high profile, guaranteed European fixtures every year is still there.

    Perhaps that is optimistic

Certainly not this season, and probably not next season. But after that, their target is surely going to Champions League qualification. Another few years, it will be winning the whole thing.

The Saudis are surely going to throw the kitchen sink at this. The ambition will be greater and have more urgency than the likes of Moshri at Evington.

High profile clubs and their highly paid, high profile players missing out on top level European football is going to become a tricky task to manage in the coming years.

I'm sure Moshri didn't start off with the ambition of qualifying for the Europa Conference League, but lots of owners may be forced to settle for this.....

    Don't forget:
UEFA Financial Fair Play Regulations - Wikipedia
They are restricted like Man City and all epl teams. May take forever if any if they follow the rules, which I'm sure they won't.

If we play the way we are playing now, we will be OK.
Ancelotti was a failure and I like the look of Benitez :like:
Things take time and I am optimistic.

Mike, no you have missed the tone of my "it just had to be said " comment I was referring sarcastically to the apparent poor page fillers with fake news!

With regard to smarting as you have suggested "1 swallow doesn't make a summer," I might (but i tend not to as football doesn't control my life) smart when Everton have come close to emulating "my teams" record of trophies.
Lets not forget that Ancelotti was seen as the great saver and the man to move Everton forward by some on here and failed for whatever reasons lie in the background that we will never know I guess, I personally dont think Rafa is in the frame wether he wants to be or not

Lets see how the season pans out ;)

I wish you had made the point about the press making comments, it seemed to me that it was yourself.

Most Evertonians think Ancelotti wasn't good that season after Xmas but he did have burglars try to haul the safe out of the house and his daughter disturbed them. This would have been very upsetting for anyone so it is not surprising that the team's form went downhill.
People say that he can only do well with good players but we will never know because of the burglary IMO.
A lot of Evertonians hoped his experience would move the club in the right direction as he could attract players that other managers could not.

The papers regularly spout utter nonsense about every team and it is best not to focus on any of their shenanigans, IMO.

From my point of view, Rafa is doing very, very well (a lot better than most Everton fans thought when he joined) and if we had DCL and Richarlison playing recently, we would have more points on the board.
Doucouré is a revelation and is quite a powerhouse, not as skilful as his compatriot, Pogba, but has improved more than anyone else at EFC.

The season is still only seven games "old" but Utd and the toffees have the same points so that is pretty good for us as Utd have been much better than us for quite some years.

Where are you picking up the "most Evertonians" from is it Everton forums, media?, a lot of the people I work with are mad football fans and certainly from the Everton supporters I talk to say the home form let Everton down in the latter part of the season and Ancelotti couldn't sort it out for whatever reason, non of them use the house break-in as an excuse! they although, pleased with the appointment saw it as high risk, one would he be off if a bigger club came along, two was he just watching time, and three would his ambitions be met by the club.
Number one happened, number 2 I always argued he was far to professional for that sort of situation, and number 3 is there or was there internal conflict over squad budget versus building budget.

I agree papers and the media often spout nonsense but they also get it right! Sadly the nonsense can destabilise but the media care not as it sells.

As you say its early season and Benitez has got Everton off to a good start but is it what I call "new manager syndrome" the lad Gray is doing well, time and the season will tell. I think he will do ok with Everton.
