Notre Dame Priest Says All Precious Artefacts And Artwork Have Been Saved

A Notre Dame cathedral priest has claimed that all precious artefacts and artwork have been saved from the historic building.

In a tweet, French journalist Nicolas Delesalle cited Père Frédéric, writing: "Good news: all the works of art were saved. The treasure of the Cathedral is intact, the Crown of thorns, the Holy sacraments.

The fire, which has destroyed destroyed large sections of the Notre Dame cathedral in Paris, has spread to one of the cathedral's landmark rectangular towers, according to Bloomberg.

What a convenient fire to be happening just as Macron rating is dropping like a lead balloon...

It is deflecting the attention away from his failure to deal with internal problems, the yellow vests protests, the suspicion that France is behind the latest Lybian problem war... And so on and so forth.........

Just watch how much mileage he is going to get out of that in the next few months...

It is a dreadful coincidence, tho........

Yeah well, we had a big fire at York Minster a few years ago. I witnessed the lightning striking it.

All rebuilt now, and raking in the money at the door again.

Jesus must be turning in his tomb.

Notre-Dame - another religious building that will eat up money that could be used more wisely.

Were you of the same opinion when Winsor Castle was partially destroyed? What about if St Albans Cathedral was similarly damaged - incidentally, compared to that building, which dates from 1089, Notre Dame is somewhat younger (1163) but compared to St Martin's Church in Canterbury (597), Notre Dame is a youngster.

As you may or may not know, I am an atheist so I don't have much time for any religious buildings.
They all seem anachronistic although I understand that most historical buildings have religious connections.
I would prefer it if religion and all it's trappings were no longer around.

Do you think that all religious buildings, the Great Pyramid of Cheops, and Mecca should be razed to the ground, the temples of Angkor Wat should be flattened and the lives of Khmer people devastated as they once were by the extremism of Pol Pot.

Or are you OK with people having the freedom to make up their own minds about such things.
