I remember telling one of lolas relatives who is a director of Banco Central that we shared a common interest in Banks and collecting cash I think she didn't get my sense of humour, I have just heard she has got me a number of commemorative notes and coins including a 2000 peso bill and a 500 peso coin all unissued, I will collect them on my next trip over
One of my remaining 1000 piso notes, I have 2 and a smattering of small notes. This is about a 15 quid note.
They ended up with about three different bleedin sizes for the 5 piso coin in circulation in recent years, just confusing.
Polymer 1000 peso being released next year. https://www.rappler.com/business/photo-new-design-one-thousand-peso-bill/
Piso came from peso which was the Spanish currency. I haven't been back to Spain since they started using the Euro. There hasn't been another country leave as the UK did.......yet. One day there will be more and the Euro will disappear over there.
We used to call them potatoes when we crossed from Gib to La Linea We were kids and just taking the p*ss
Wow I really want lots of the new P1000 notes as there is a wonderful drawing of Tubbataha reef on one side. I will ask the wife to get me lots. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tubbataha_Reef I really want to dive there but the window of time when it is open is so short (April-June) and it is expensive to go there compared to other places in the Philippines and there were some kidnappings not far away: https://thediplomat.com/2020/06/dangerous-waters-maritime-crime-in-the-sulu-sea/ I was more reluctant to go when I heard the pitter patter of little feet.
I have a collection of notes from around the world somewhere, now in a plastic box. Some coins too. I have told my son he can have them one day. "Can I have them now, Daddy?" He is 9 y.o. and they would probably be all over the garden or house within the week
