Our wives living in the UK

This kind of layout is great for a family where the mother is active in the kitchen. And where the family is more grown up and guests are frequent. The best I have seen is a decent sized kitchen with Aga complete with a table big enough to have breakfast and lunch at.

Then with an open plan family room adjacent. A bit like you describe. This combination is not always possible in many houses of course.

The flip side of this is that if the kitchen is small enough then nobody wants to spend much time in it anyway, except to get the essentials done.

But I think some women are quite happy living in the kitchen if everything is there and they like to cook. Complete with TV on the wall, couch and internet connectivity It depends a lot of course on the individual.

This is true. I remember my lola and mum waking up early at 6am to have breakfast then would do gardening, washing clothes, cleaning the house, bathing the dogs, cooking meals... then there I was waking up at 10am hahaha and suddenly hearing my mum's voice "gising na, tanghali na, maglinis na ng bahay" (wake up, its getting late, clean the house!"). And if she seen me sitting, especially my dad, there would be a looooong sermon... so just pretend we were busy..

Sometimes.....

I just seem to try to tidy up all the time in there which drives my wife nuts.
Strange because we have a room in the house where I have lots of things and it is messy.
Must be something deep and meaningful in that.....

hmm, dunno if you mean this as a joke or what. But is that being submissive?
I cook, my hubby eats. During weekends, it's either he cooks, we dine out or order a food delivery.
I always do the washing.
He and my stepson mess the house, I do the tidying.

It was a sarcastic comment because Filipinas are far from being submissive in my experience!

I work too many hours out of the home and my wife does everything in the home.
I just seem to get in the way
