Package holiday to Spain - best way to do this?

    Hi,

We have paid for our new passports and have sent our old passports back.

Now we want to look at package holidays in Spain.

I have always done everything myself (buy flights and arrange hotel or other accommodation when I arrive).
We have been to the Philippines a couple of times but our family of 4 needs a more stress-free package holiday in Spain; you know, stay in one hotel and have access to a swimming pool and nearby beach.
Has anyone done this recently and which is the best way to do this? I haven't done this for donkey's years. They used pesetas when I last went there.
There used to be travel shops with lots of brochures in the past that you could take home and make decisions. Are these still around?
Thanks for any tips and tricks, bye for now.

Can you not just book the flights and get an Airbnb villa,my sis does that twice a year as she finds it really nice having the privacy of the Airbnb?Enjoy the trip, which part of Spain are you looking at?

Travel agents with brochures are still around where you can walk in and talk face to face with staff/travel advisors.

I dont like travel agents lol, we use booking.com a lot,you can suit the travel package, rooms etc to the family rather than the family to the rooms, also gives payment options for example reserve now pay later or when you arrive (slightly more expensive than paying at the time of booking) but gives options.Normally each listing has plenty of photos of the hotel also lists nearest landmarks and travel options many offer a free or for a small cost shuttle service to and from the airport for example we went to Rome 2 of us the shuttle was a car, when we went to Phuket the shuttle was a people carrier 8 seats, each hotel will have varying amounts of reviews from many nationalities and overall ratings and indivudual ratings for breakfast, staff, cleanliness etc. Once we have selected hotel rooms etc we then go onto other hotel sites like expedia and try and get the same hotel up to look at the for the hotel reviews to compare. Trip advisor is also a good site for reviews and google map for reviews looking at the area the hotel is in street view etc

You need to be ready to cook at home if you get a villa and then you probably need to be mobile i.e. renting a car to get to the supermarket.

I've been out to Spain a few times to stay with my friend and his wife who tend to rent a villa for 6 months of the year but my pal drives his car all the way down through France to the east coast of Spain so they have mobility when there as his wife is old and needs a wheelchair, we sometimes went out for dinner and they certainly have a good mix of restaurants available but there was a lot of travelling all the villas they have rented have been a fair distance from the sea and absolutely required them to have the car.

I had a villa in Spain for 6 months, right next to the centre of a beautiful village,a short stroll from restaurants.

Mike I'm like you flights and accommodation separate but if I were to think about taking family to the likes of Spain a holiday for 4 people I would just go with something like TUI, just set wide filters like all of Spain and see what prices they offer.

Thanks, John. Scary - the cost in the height of the season (kids off school) on the Costa del Sol with booking.com was £4,000 .

Now (soon) to wade through everything with the wife and choose how to do everything.
I told her that she must be part of the decision-making process so she cannot complain later.

You've just reminded me. I'm off to Davao in September and I think my passport has less than six months left by the time of travel. Will need to check this and get it sorted.

British tourists vow never to visit Magaluf again as booze crackdown has made it boring:

Guardia Civil (Police) : "zero tolerance for tourism excesses".

Great to see the drunks' bad behaviour is being curtailed.
If I was 20 y.o. though I would be thinking of taking a holiday somewhere else.
I wonder which country the party-goers (who want to have a skinful) will go?

I read an article about all inclusive holidays in Spain and some Brits were livid that free alcoholic drinks ended at 10pm.

We booked a two week holiday in a quiet area in Mallorca, Spain in August BTW.
