Every time I search online for info on a Visa for my gf I seem to come across new, conflicting information... I recently found a site called 'visa4uk' - part of the FCO website... Some information says you have to be living together for 2 years before you can apply for a Visa, but you must apply for the Visa from outside of the UK! This would suggest that I have to have lived with my gf in the Philippines for 2 years??? REALLY CONFUSED!!! Any clarification would be gratefully received...
You need to have lived together for two years if applying as an unmarried partner. Fiance visa doesn't require this. It just requires you to have met in person.
Hi guys just want to be ABSOLUTELY SURE we are applying for the correct visa type... (not doubting 'Dav3&Ai5a' - just want to be ABSOLUTELY SURE!) I went through the process at the Visa4uk website, to apply for a Visa for my gf/fiancee 'to get married (within 6 months)' and subsequently 'settle in the UK' (after 5 years I think it is, and a FLR then ILR application?) on a Spouse Visa and came up with a 'Visit - marriage/civil Partnership - 6 months' visa. My gf/fiancee came up with a 'Settlement - Marriage' Visa (no mention of the 6 months to get married) - I don't know the exact steps she chose! I know there is a difference between a Visa to get married in the UK, but then settle in another country and a Visa to get married in the UK and settle in the UK afterwards on a Spouse Visa. We are planning to marry AND settle in the UK - which Visa is the correct one please??? It may be that the wording 'Settlement', as opposed to 'Visit', is the crucial difference but the absence of the '6 months' time limit for marriage on the Settlement visa is what concerns/confuses me!
you want settlement : settlement / marriage. its for a fiancee to come here--marry within 6 months--then apply for 1st FLR to stay here a further 30 months--then apply for 2nd flr for another 30 months--then ILR.
