Guys, your help is required. On the Philippine (London) Embassy website it states: Irish passport holders may enter and stay in the Philippines for 30 days without visa provided that they hold valid tickets for their return journey to port of origin or next port of destination, and that their passports are valid for at least 6 months beyond the intended period of stay in the Philippines. British passport holders may enter and stay in the Philippines for 30 days without visa provided that they hold valid tickets for the return journey to port of origin or next port of destination and that they hold valid passports. Is this also the case also for UK passport holders..... as there's basically no difference between Irish and UK citizens (both are EU countries...... at the moment !), or is there no validity time requirement so long as the password is "current" ? Obviously I've tried asking the embassy .......... and am still waiting for a response.
Good question. My usual reference point, the IATA travel rules make no mention of any requirement for either UK or IE passport holders to have six months validity beyond their period of stay in the Philippines. Checking the Travel Advice section of the British Foreign Office website I see the following: However that does not mean that you are guaranteed a trouble free check-in at the UK airport, there was the recent case of a man denied boarding on a BA flight to France as the check in staff misunderstood the rules. I would suggest that at a minimum you print off the page from the Foreign office website and carry it with you. If you are concerned why not renew your passport?
Just a quick question, if I apply for a new passport in UK, do they take my old one or let me keep it?
When you apply they take your existing passport then you get it back with your new one. Takes 2/3 months.
ahh.. so I'd get it back. Thanks Tim. Same thing goes for my Fiance when he renews his passport, right?
He doesn't need to send his old one. Just apply for a new one. If you do an outreach they just review your passport there and then, it's not taken away.
Renewed my UK passport last year from Dubai. Using courier in both directions, I had my new passport back with me in 2 weeks...!!! I did have to send my old passport which was returned along with the new one. Very impressed.
