    Hello.
My wife and i are about to make our first Flr application. Her passport expires in October this year.
Does anyone know if we get the flr and her passport is returned with the flr visa in it. What happens when we renew her passport? Will the new passport be updated to show her flr visa so we can travel?

    Thanks.

    Robbie.

    Hi Robbie
When you are successful in getting the FLR in the passport she will get a vignette valid for 30 days she must travel to the UK within the valid dates.
When she arrived in the UK she will be issued a BRP card ( biometric residence permit) this is what is used to validate her FLR status and permission to stay in the UK.
In conjunction with her passport she will use the BRP card as part of confirming permission to 're enter the UK.
Details on how the BRP card is issued will be seen within the application process.

    Hi.
Thanks for the reply. You have miss understood my question. My wife is here in the UK already. her six month visa expires in April and we are making our first flr application soon when we have received all the info. we have started the process already and will continue soon. we have paid for her ihs already and will continue the standard application next to apply for the first flr visa while she is here...... We just wanted to know what happens when she gets the 1st Flr? can we send her passport of when we receive the first flr and will the flr visa be in her new passport? So we can then travel afterwards?
    Thanks.
    Robbie.

Is she on a visit Visa?

I understood the question you do not get a visa put in the passport (other than the vignette I described) the BRP card is if you like the authority to live in the UK.

Shes here on a fiance visa which lasts for six moths. we were married in December.
So your saying that when we get the BRP card and FLR. We can reapply for her new passport and use the BRP card afterwards to travel?

Ah right reading your original post you didn't say she was already here and what visa she was on.
For clarity now , you don't have to wait for the expiry of her current visa you can apply now!
When you get the BRP card she will use both to travel. (Passport and BRP) The BRP demonstrates to immigration in the UK she has a right to return from her travels to continue living in the UK.

So we can renew her Passport? Once we receive the flr? And continue to travel with her new Passport and the BRP?;)

We are stuck waiting for the new passport before we can apply for the FLR because the passport expires 11th Feb and the Fiancee visa on 27th Feb. Waiting six weeks already

When I was applying for an FLR, I had my passport extended so I can apply for the FLR. Applied for FLR in February, after having visited the embassy to have it stamped for extension. FLR is more important that the passport renewal. That's what the Phil consul told me. I hope you get the passport soon so you can apply for FLR before the visa expires.

Interesting, how did you go about asking for an extension?

Remember to update her BRP after getting new passport if you are changing her name on passport.
Name on passport and BRP must match.

I just went to the embassy and asked them to stamp my phil passport. It is extended for a year. It was a consul who emailed me and said to do just that si I can apply for my FLR at that time.
