    Hey guys,

Looking for some advice here after a long absent period.

After the drama of the first lady I met in the Philippines, I took the advice given here and cut things off but kept visiting single and enjoyed myself, one of my original 'crushes' popped back into my life and we began dating early this year and I just returned from a month long visit to be with her from August to September where we got engaged (for those curious - 28 with no kids from Leyte, absolutely drama-free)

I'm trying to organize everything but according to the details I can find I only require the Certificate of no impediment (CNI) which I have already applied for at my local registry office here in the UK.
This is according to the Memorandum Circular issued by the PSA on 13/12/23
I planned to get this apostilled and bring this and my birth certificate with me to the Philippines and to apply for the marriage license asap after arrival at her Local Civil Registrar.

My fiance insists we both need CENOMARS and CEDULA from the Philippines according to documentation she was given but I think that document relates to if we were both Philippine citizens, I can't see how their government would know my tax status etc if I only visit for 30 days at a time?

The list she was given says the following:
    Birth Certificate of Both Applicants
CEDULA of both applicants and parents.
    CENOMAR of both applicants
Brgy. Captain Certification as to the residency of the applicants
    Passport (if foreigner)
Legal capacity from the embassy that based in the Philippines (depends on nationality of the foreigner) (Sic)

It then says 10 day posting which I presume is the timeframe for the marriage license.

Can anyone advise who has been through this process recently what exactly is required?

Good morning. I got married in Filo Feb 23 so probably the same now. Yes you both need a CENOMAR (even though you are not living in Filo, you need this to say you have not previously married a Phillpina) NO you do not need a CEDULA (just your other half). You both have to do an online video course (pre marriage Orientation session PMO or sometimes called pre marriage counselling) about birth control and being a good partner etc (middle of the night for me in UK) My wife arranged this and booked the session. when completed you will get a certifcate of compliance by email. You need this certificate before you apply for the local licence. With regards to legal capacity, I completed it prior to flying over and got it Notorised locally (very easy, walk in service, offices everywhere and cheap) If I remember correctly the form may be on the Gov.uk website.
I went to filo for the 30 days visa period and most things were arranged by my wife so we could crack on with things the day after I got there. We went to the local government office where we form filled, paid the fees and then wait the 10 days before going back and collecting the certificate allowing the marriage. Then you’re ready to go. Hope this helps

take a few passport size photos with you, and previous divorce papers, if applicable

    Hi Skelum, We got married in a Civil ceremony performed by the Deputy Mayor (The actual Mayor was indisposed due to ill health) in Bukidnon back in 2018, from my recollection the requirements for you;
    CNI
    Birth Certificate
    Divorce cert (if Divorcee)
    Passport
    Affidavit/Affirmation Status (British Embassy Manila
Proof of Address (Council Tax/Driving Licence)
    Cenomar
PMC (Pre Marriage Councilling which you both attend)

any Local requirements such as for us as I have mentioned many times (Tree Planting Certificate) these local requirements are a must have and your wife will get these from the local Civil Registars offices, when you have submitted all the requirements and paid fees there will be a 10 day posting of intent to marry and awaiting any objections then your marriage licence will be issued.

Good luck and don't worry you will I guarantee enjoy the ceremony its just that gathering some of the requirements can be stressful, such as flying/attending the British Embassy in Manila, we don't like Manila :D.

This may be of help something I found, https://freddysmusings.com/2018/08/...e-requirements-and-processes-no-holds-barred/

You can however now get the affidavit for the foreign spouse done at many of the local council offices no need to go to Manila, if I recall the British Embassy since covid have stopped doing them

yes Mattecube, your right, no requirement to go to the Embassy for anything now. Also, as I said in my post, you can do the pre marriage seminar on line via Zoom meeting. Yes you both do it at the same time (when we did ours there were probably 10 couples) but you can do it whilst your in the UK in advance.

Jeez seems it's so much easier now then what it was back in 2018, maybe I should ask my wife if we should do it all over again, :D

2015 for me and the current Mrs too.

    1991 for the first Mrs.
Of course the Settlement Visa only cost 40 quid back then though...and 12 months before ILR issued...for maybe another tenner.
