Polar express: How airlines are plotting a new route to Asia

    Before I opened the article I tried to create a route in Google Earth, I pretty much got it right, Philippines is hard though as it is nearly 3000 miles extra that way.

    I was thinking about Amsterdam to Asia.

    FlightRadar is quite telling, I did notice that some European airlines are diverting just a little bit to get to China flying further south and not on a proper worldline, so I guess the Philippine routes will still be open but be more expensive in fuel.

    There are options like this for me on KLM I guess they will be using a route a bit like this, still about 1000 to 1500 miles more than normal, but a lot of KLM->Philippine connections had already transitioned to being via Singapore.
