Glad to say the Mrs and I are going back to the Philippines for a month in a few days, during which time we'll take in a few destinations. Does anyone know of bars that may show Premier League football in the following locations :- Panglao (Alona beach area) Cebu city Baguio I'm willing to take a taxi or jeepney a reasonable distance if necessary. Cheers
You are most unlikely to find any Premier League football available in the Philippines. Hong Kong-based Star Sports (available on Sky Cable) occasionally shows British sports, notably Rugby World Cup and Six Nations, but soccer is not a must-see sport in SE Asia.
Yep non of the supposed sports bars around fuente will have any football or that I know of. The definition of sports bars is one incorporating a pool table
I know they have sports bars in Boracay and Davao that show Premier League, but I have no idea for the areas that you mentioned.
If you subscribe to Sky or BT Sports for example in the UK does that not mean you can watch live Premier League on your laptop where ever you go?
I spent five years living in Davao and never came across any sports bar showing Premier league football. Tim is correct in that BT Sports subscribers may be able to watch 0nline but only then in a four or five star western hotel in Manila with a fibre connection; the internet in Boracay and Davao would not support it.
You could probably vpn, depends how thorough they check the network. http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/45849/~/can-i-use-the-bt-sport-app-outside-the-uk?
Hi Markham I have not been to the bar, but it is called something like Nova.....it doubles as a motel as well I believe. They claim to show EPL. The problem with watching live matches in bars is the time difference. Early afternoon weekend matches are OK but the evening matches are very late and all bars are closed by then.
The mighty Glasgow Celtic (leviathan of a club playing in Mickey Mouse league.) FWIW Spurs is my fav English team - mainly on account of them playing second fiddle to their north London rivals for so long. Also had a soft spot for Oldham Athletic - I had relatives who stayed there many moons ago.
Definitely is in Cebu as about 5 Brits I know go there regularly.. Probably somewhere like this... http://baniladsportsclub.com.ph/ Or.. It could well be here.. http://marshallsirishpub.com/where-to-watch-soccer-or-football-in-cebu/ When I see em next,I`ll ask. Also pretty sure a lot of guys here in Bohol watch via live streaming at home.
Check star sports channel. That channel might not be showing all the game but they do the main one. You can also check or google some bars where chelsea supporters group congregate.
Cheers guys, you've been a big help! Just looked at the weather in Bohol and Cebu when I'm there, not what I was hoping for, but at least it's hot!
Joker's Arms in Cebu might be worth checking out. I thought it closed a while ago, but here is a facebook post from just a couple of days ago. https://www.facebook.com/TheJokersArms/ http://www.thejokersarms.com/Home/
You do know that Joker's has moved? Now on Dionisio Jakosalem Street (near Mango Square and the infamous Mango Avenue) and it appears to be still under the same ownership. Very expensive for what it is and there are cheaper sports bars in the vicinity, El Gecko (at the junction of Dionisio Jakosalem with Gen. Maxilom) being one popular with Expats.
