Recent Experience With Xoom

    As some of you here will know we have recently collected some money that required sending to the Fils for a cash collection this was done mostly with Paypal

    Having read on a couple of recent post that Xoom was now back in business for folk in the UK and that its rates were good combined with its being owned and connected with PayPal I thought it a good option

    I logged in to my Paypal account and clicked through to transfer funds abroad
    filled in the request put all the details including a security check from my bank and thought I was done.

    An hour later i got this email

    I called on a free phone and ironically as it turned out was connected to a call center in the Fils

    The Rep asked various "security questions " DOB etc and then the purpose of the funds.

    When I asked what business of Xooms that was he said in case I was being scammed I reassured him and said I was facilitating a long term friend with some money for his wife OK sir says he.

    then this email appeared

    Dear KeithAngel,

    Your Xoom transaction, X7679, is currently pending for processing with Xoom's Customer Verification Team. To process and verify your transaction, we need to speak with you directly. Kindly give us a call to the best available phone number available in the following link:

    Unfortunately, if we don't hear back from you, your transaction may be cancelled. We will send you an email notification when your transaction is cancelled.

    I called them back and was asked to send a scan of my UK Driving Licence as the final link

    I was reluctant and pointed out that I had made this transaction via my totaly confirmed and verified Paypal account and had further been ID checked by my linked bank account HE was insistent and confirmed again this was the last thing they needed.

    So I sent it by return and then recalled them to confirm they had it

    Yes Sir we do

    I called them set it all out clearly again the agent suggested I email so I sent

    Dear Sir/Madam,
    I am appalled at your conduct regarding this transaction.

    I have been a PayPal member for over ten years and tried to send money on the 15th to the wife of a friend of more than ten years

    Although the transaction was difficult I persevered after 2 phone calls when you sead you required further verification I phoned and sent immediatly a scan of my UK driving licence assured this was the final piece of information you required.

    However on the 4th phone call to confirm, your representative kept asking further personal questions and although I explained that I had signed in from my Paypal account with a very long term and verified bank account linked to Paypal and verified you declined by email my transaction thus causing me great embarresment

    Further you appear to have harvested my personal information to no legitimate purpose contrary to EU law

    Before I cancel my Paypal account and embarc on denigrating your company and Paypal (On my social media)for hosting you on their site perhaps you have a full explanation

    No they didnt

    This came back

    My origional mail wasnt replied to so I resent it with this as the begining

    Thankyou for your invitation to "Call You" I did that 4 times yesterday to no avail

    I would prefer a written reply to my questions and comments below

    They cancelled the transaction no explanation have a load of my data and a pissed off Paypal customer then they sent this

    Sorry you are having problems Keith I have not had any problems so far it might be worth calling PayPal and ask them to have a word

    I probably would if I had any reason to but since I havnt made a transfer to the fils for along time and probably wont again not much point

    I used World Remit in the end and it was simple and angst free
