    Hi everyone
Does anyone know if the Philippines Embassy in London will renew a Philippines passport in summer 2019, even though it does not expire until Nov 2019? (the wife's) I suspect they will, but it would be good to know if someone has done this

Yes you can. Many countries require a minimum of six months' validity, from the date of entry, on visitors' Passports.

UK passports are no longer subject to the 6 month limit on validity re the Philippines I am not quite sure what the limit is but is it no longer 6 months.

If she travels on her RP passport then no there should not be an issue of any kind.

You have to attend no appointment needed,
It's then sent off to the Philippines and then returned to you by post from the UK. Takes 6 to 8 weeks roughly

As long as the passport is valid prior to the day of departure.

    so--now we have a dilemna.

my wife has been told she needs 6 months to run on her passport--or renew it.

problem is--she wants to dash off to london asap to renew it--and be without it for maybe 8 weeks. but she intends to go home mid june to mid july...with no guarantee her new passport will be back in time. so no way can she book her flight till she gets it back.

or--does she do it my way. keep her passport--which is valid till 10th october--fly out with it--fly back with it--job done. then renew later before it expires.

    what would you do ?

    Who told her 6 months?

Nobody would stop you a British citizen returning to the UK on your own passport if you had been out of the country for a while even if it only had days left.

Maybe they mean she needs 6 months on it to return to the UK?

You need 6 months on your passport to travel to the Philippines if you are an alien to that country, which she isn't.
Some countries work on the 6 month rule if you are alien to them for visa reasons.
The UK allows valid passport dates for people leaving and returning within those dates.
She could renew it while over there depends how long she is staying, or renew it on her return.

From the stuff that has been posted here in the last few months it is apparently quite hard to get a passport renewal processed on the ground in the Philippines now, some kind of internet appointment booking system rather than just turning up at the DFA like in the old days.

yesterday i emailed the embassy--this is the reply..

Good day po, it is better you renew to here in PE London as soon as possible. Processing will take 6-10 weeks.

Going out from Philippine ports follow the 6 months validity rule.

so--what is the 6 month rule in this case ?
