(This may not be the right thread - but it seems pertinent.)

Has anyone renewed a Philippines Passport at the London Embassy recently and can they advise on the process?

I assume that an NSO Birth Certificate will be needed (guess what can’t be found..) and - what else?

Supplementary question - how does one go about getting a replacement NSO Birth Certificate?

Mae recently renewed her Passport at an outreach of the Rome embassy. As far as I can recall, she simply completed a form provided by the consular staff, produced her existing Passport, had her picture taken and paid the fee. She had to collect her new Passport three months' later at the next outreach. I don't think she needed to produce her birth certificate since no details had changed - her existing Passport was already in her married name. Your mileage may vary, of course.

The NSO - or PSA as I believe they now style themselves - have a web site through which you can apply for birth (and other) certificates and it accepts credit/debit cards in payment. They say they will send certificates abroad but you will need to enter into an email conversation and pay them more money. It is far simpler to have the certificates sent to a friend or relative in the Philippines and for them to forward it/them via LBC's international service (which uses DHL).

A word of advice in my view! If you have Ks visa application pack still all together take that you have all the documents!
They seem to ask to see stuff that's not on the advice what to take with you list!
You go in full a form out in one room get a number and wait your turn.
    An hour tops

    Good day out in London

Thanks. I had a feeling that such might be the case.

My experience to date with the London embassy has been that they can be downright hostile, rather than merely unhelpful.

May as well do both passports at the same time...

I can't remember if we needed a birth certificate or not. I think we did, although the main hassle we had was with the NSO marriage certificate because we were changing the name to her married name.

A birth certificate can be obtained here: https://www.ecensus.com.ph/Default.aspx

One other point is that current visas in the old passport are still valid. You just have to carry both passports.

Take a large envelope with insured postage for them to send passport back

If you are getting the "family" to recieve NSO certs get a few of each as they are very cheap in the fils we had to "loose" our last NSO Marriage to the counsular outreach having previously had to "loose" them and B.Certs for visa/residence cards in Portugal so having some new stock became important I had previously thought 3 of each would be plenty

Any visas in your old passport will not get transferred but may still be valid so you would need to carry both

I think he is referring the usage to applying for his next Stage of spouse visa not traveling. I don' think you get anything stuck in your passport just a new BRP card

Yea im in the uk, applying for ILR. Just worried if my philippine passport(being processed for renewal) wont come on time when i apply for my settlement. I had it renewed on 2nd of feb 2018 and applying for settlement on the 4th of april. Philippine embassy said the processing takes about 12 weeks, Im wondering if anyone here had renewed their passports and had it earlier than 12 weeks? And if it doesnt come on time what should i do? Can i use my old passport with a stamped epassport processed??

You can not usean expired passport in dealing with the home office- it is not a valid proof at that point. Can you not postpone the application and wait for the new passport?

There are few people who has applied for the new passport recently inside the UK - majority probably is the same as you - waiting.
