We were late doing the report of marriage, which may be relevant in that case. Not sure why that would make a difference though.

Personally I'd still recommend getting the NSO version to be safe, particularly if it is not straight forward getting to the embassy.

You might be right there, especially if you have time.

I should have read your post early on @Maharg . We just been to the Philippine Embassy to renew my passport and change of name to married name last week and same thing happened to me.

I was told that the report of marriage is enough as a requirement for the change of name. Oh Boy! They are so good in ignoring your concerns. When I mentioned their website, they didn't even acknowledge it. No apologies, even.

Another thing what's annoying is that I know a number of Filipinos who renewed their passport in the Philippines and have a validity of 10 years. So why can't Filipinos around the world have theirs for 10 years too?
I just told the guy behind the counter to carry on renewing my passport with my maiden name with matching eye rolls just to show my annoyance. They didn't even ask for the special delivery envelope if I didn't show them--twice. They thought it's easy for everybody to just turn up to the Philippine Embassy. We took 3 trains just to get there.

Kept shaking my head of defeat. I don't know how the system would change. And who trains customer service to them? Might as well shoot them in the head! Excuse my language, I'm annoyed, can you tell?:boxer:

Sorry for the rant. I just needed to let this out.

Despite all of that, we didn't let them ruin our day. Little one enjoyed a day trip in London.

Hello Anne, I'm going to renew my passport and change my name as well. I just received my report of marriage; its just the form I submitted, they just stamped it and send back to me. Is it enough for my passport renewal? I also asked my sister to get my MC online, send it home and she will post it via DHL to me... but I can't wait any longer.

Apparently, the stamped report of marriage is not enough for them as what is stated in their requirements list. That's what I was annoyed about. You need to go through the website https://www.ecensus.com.ph/Default.aspx to request for it and according to Maharg, it's 20USD. He posted it December 2016 so don't be surprised if it's more than that now.

I just carried on with my maiden name. Will just sort it out after my ILR.

Have you left some IDs or any proof that your sister will be claiming it? Let us know how it goes though.

Yes, I send her a signed copy of my authorisation letter and 2 copies of ID's: passport & work...should arrive next week. I'll give an update once it's delivered.

"What do I need to present to the courier when the certificates are delivered to me?

Marriage Certificates, Death Certificates and CENOMAR:
Either the document owner, the requesting party or his/her representative is allowed to receive marriage certificates, death certificates and CENOMAR. A valid ID must be presented when receiving the certificate."

The guy behind the counter in the Philippine embassy said it's still 5 years and I know someone from the US who just recently renewed her passport--5 years too.

So i guess unless its due for renewal, its better to wait a few more weeks to get the 10 yr one

Just an update of my e-census request:
Sep 9 - requested my marriage cert. online
Sep 8 - paid the amount
Sep 20 - they called that my marriage was not in their record so I send them the stamped report of marriage and affidavit of late reg. as a proof via email.
Sep 27 - they send me 2 useless document (paid for 2 copies), it's the nso paper stating it's negative... so annoying! How come I received the stamped report of marriage and it was not recorded? I tried to call the embassy but seems no one cares to pick it up. I'm feeling so down...

Although the bill for 10 years has passed I doubt it will take effect till at least until next March..

When did you register the marriage? I know it takes time but not sure how long.

It was 18th of August. What I know, this report of marriage was sent to Philippines so I thought they have my records already. My mistake, I didn't ask how early I can make a request after receiving the report of marriage back.

I just decided to renew passport and keep my maiden name. I'm already using my married name at work, HRMC, GP, and bank but I think it's no big deal to them. Will I still need PSA marriage certificate for this?
"If passport being renewed is the old brown passport or a green Machine Readable-Ready passport (MRRP) or the maroon Machine-ready passport (MRP), Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) issued Birth Certificate, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA issued Marriage Certificate (for married women applicants) and one other valid identification document."
