    Guys,
Probably not the right forum area, so feel free to move if necessary.

    Right.... here goes .....

I got married in the UK to my Filipina wife a number of years ago.
We then registered the marriage at the Philippines Embassy in London.

Since then my wife has acquired UK citizenship, and in the process lost her Filipina citizenship..

We're now trying to put that right.... and subsequently popped along to the embassy with all the relevant forms (...or so we thought)

We now need a new birth certificate for her, with the "new" authentication stamp
This is in hand via the PSA's website.

But we also need the Report of Marriage from the PSA ..... and to get that we need the DFA Reference Number, Dispatch Number, Dispatch Date, & Transmittal Date.
All forms reference that "The DFA Reference Number, etc. can be obtained from the Consular Records Division of DFA Manila@ ....... but i see nothing on their website where I can request this info.

Anyone else been down this route & came away with a satisfactory result ?

    Thks in advance

Just as you think you are done, up crops something else.

My wife has British citizenship too. She is not gasping to reacquire her Philippine citizenship, but she does want to at some point.

A few years back she replaced her Filipino passport at an outreach and we saw a number of Filipinos reacquiring Filipino citizenship that same day. Our understanding has been that it is a formality. But presumably not?

You would think the old passport would suffice in support of reacquisition....

You need to send email to DFA Consular Records Division to get all those details needed by Ecensus/PSA.

    records-director@oca.dfa.gov.ph

I got all my details by sending an email to them.

    Not !

As mentioned, we arrived with all the relevant forms & docs, and were then informed that one was incorrect and one was missing.

The “incorrect” one was her original birth certificate. I’ll repeat that …. her ORIGINAL birth certificate, but this was rejected as this now has to be authenticated with a PSA stamp, not a NSO stamp. So obvious, eh ?

The “missing” doc was our UK marriage certificate. ”It’s here” I said pointing at it. “This isn’t acceptable” said the man, “you need the Filipino marriage certificate”. “But we didn’t get married in the Philippines, we got married in the UK“ says I.

“But you registered the marriage here at the Embassy, and we sent the details to Manila, and now you need to contact them and get them to send you the authorized & stamped Filipino marriage certificate…… have a good day”

They all want PSA authenticated docs (birth/marriage cert).

The people at that website. Would they supply the documentation that Bluebird or anyone else might require?

    This one below?

I see. We married in the Philippines and have that marriage certificate.

Thanks for posting as it has alerted us to potential issues ahead.

That seems to be what @Anne is having to acquire but for slightly different purpose.

    Yes & no.
They can supply the birth certificate easily enough, but the marriage one (if married abroad) is a bit trickier.
For that one they also need the DFA Reference number, the Dispatch number, the Dispatch date, and the Transmittal date...... which you need to get from the DFA.

I've now emailed them as per the address supplied by Menchu Edge.
I'll let you know how I get on

Yes please let us know if they provide the dispatch and transmittal.

@menchu_edge may i ask why you made a request, i mean it wasnt for reaquisition was it.

Asawa hasnt applied for citizenship yet but I too may make the request with them. Did you supply just names in the email request @Bluebirdjones ?

I need the PSA authenticated marriage cert for my passport renewal (change of surname). Can't change without it. That's the new rule since January 2018.

Aside from names, I submitted pics of my Report of Marriage and receipt from Phil Embassy - London.

@Bluebirdjones sorry to hear you have to go through this too. :(

I went to Ph Embassy last year to renew and change my name to married name but they didn't let me. We reported our marriage 3 months after our wedding but didn't acquire the Report of Marriage being in the PSA freaking paper until my mum and mum-in-law processed it in the Philippines few months after. I just carried on with my maiden name as we don't want to waste our trip to London.

Here comes our application for our daughter's first British passport. We are experiencing some hurdles with their requirements. They don't need our marriage certificate but a LETTER from the PSA Civil Registrar General saying that our marriage is included in their Indices of Marriage. We are married here in Gloucester.

I thought I am alone having to deal with this as I was speaking to my Filipino friends with the same status as me, they didn't have any problems applying for their children's passports at all.

So I am guessing, is it only this year that things changed? :erm:

Coming back to this, our intention would be to get Asawa to be a British citizen soon. Assuming we do that and then re-apply for her Filipino citizenship, the fact that we were married in Pinas (albeit the Marriage Certificate was done in 2012 on NSO paper), I'm guessing/hoping that was negate us having to tread the same path as @Bluebirdjones? Or is it the fact that it has to PSA authenticated?

Guess we have to request another 'copy' from the PSA then. It is like applying for a job back in the Philippines, they need your NSO/PSA authenticated birth certificate not older than 6 months. Crazy.

We were married in 2011 in Pinas. It looks awfully like we will need to go through the PSA too. Hopefully not though.

Am looking at our NSO marriage certificate now. Hopefully that would do....

But not so certain about her birth certificate.
