Decorative, the gas flue for the central heating is on the side of where I live, maybe the chimneys are being used for the air intake for the central heating boiler.

The place I'm in was built in 2010 I know that for certain and it was built before the rest of the properties in any of my images.

The telephone/broadband conduits were constructed at the same time, on Google maps there was a building atop the whole area where that BT manhole is, it was demolished to allow for the construction of what's there now.

The google imagery is from July 2024 on street view and comparing the image in the brochure it looks like that property line is real the white blocks are accurately marked on the real stones, so it's real, I don't see that having been done as a manual edit of the image, so the problem would be solved as you have a clear boundary.

The postcode is a bit unfortunate ;) :D

    Plot thickens:

I can see why this is probably going to be a problem now, the imagery from 2017 shows that the area was previously lawn:
    e.g.

And this is what's caused the problem... the next door neighbour have put gravel down between them:

    upload_2026-2-15_10-2-30.png
But you can clearly see the gravel straddles the main elevation (front of the house) of the two properties :D

Problem is - presumably the the neighbor next to the property on the corner being sold has laid block... assuming it's their land... the agent's story is "the property being sold has been used laregely as a holiday home" so perhaps they were unaware of the block being laid and their share or not of the lawn being converted into a parking area for their neighbors use...

I guess the only way to resolve the situation is by looking at the deeds and/or possibly involving a solicitor and surveyor to establish where the boundary truly is!

I know what's going to happen here - I'll get the plan and the line will be drawn with a pen that has a 1 inch nib :D

The wonders of modern technologies from the Land Registry!

No real surprise - I use PDF24 to convert the pdf to an image - free and very good :like:

I guess a few leylandii conifers would do the job nicely :D

You'd have to dig up the stones your neighbour had laid on your property:D

Leylandi would wreck your side as well, 50 years ago they were incredibly popular in Scotland as a 17 year old working in a garden centre I sold vast amounts of them, a few years later everyone was moaning about them (Dodge City garden centre in Paisley, top of the Renfrew Road on the left, South of the M8 :D Summer of 76)

More to the point it confirms that dotted white line which cost the neighbour about 20% of their bill.

Have you confirmed with the estate agent that the broken white line is real as if it is that confirms the argument is already over?

    @HONEST DAVE ...

I've just discovered children are free on the bus in Scotland...

Bit surprised you haven't mentioned this to me previously whilst extolling the virtues of God's own country! :D

Well you caught me out there as I did not know this, between that and the free education plus the added family allowance having children comes with no cost to us, so it would be wise to increase your flock when you get here.

Children and pupil's get free travel in England and Wales although not to the same level as Scotland and there is a suitability of school and a mileage criteria to be met.

Children are free on the buses in Scotland but what this really means is; they will give away a free screaming brat with every adult paying fare.

Are you talking about free travel to school if a child lives more than 3 miles from the only school that is able to accept them ?

It is now 3.5yrs since I returned back to UK after living in PH for 8yrs, before leaving there many people were to tell me I would find it hard to live back in UK with the high cost of living that exists there now, truth be told I have not found this to be the case provided you own your home and not renting. Likely I could save a million pennies a year from a Family Budget this does not require a high degree of intelligence otherwise I would be Fecked, but I guess being a Scotsman this is easy for me?

I cannot help but notice the shopping trolleys of some Families and just how stupid they can be with this? Ready Meals are often there with many of them and when the run out of these I guess they will turn to Take Aways? which is just another huge drain on a Family Budget.

Only this morning I was to read an article by a young woman very like minded to myself and she does all the little things I do to save a penny here and there.

I used to live pay cheque to pay cheque before I discovered these nine essential money hacks
