Seems like a monster has been eliminated. I don't have a problem with that.

It comes down to whether you support capital punishment or not. I am against it generally though I can waiver.

Cases like this is where I waiver.

The obvious question as the crime is so awful, what crime would sway you to the death penalty?

I don't think many will shead tears if murderers are executed, but do we all have absolute faith that the Pakistani police have got the right guy?

I'm sure the guy said "fair cop, you've got me bang to rights, guv". Or maybe the confession was extracted by other means? I don't know much about this case, so maybe it was a water tight conviction. But for every 100 that are convicted fairly, there is one who is a victim of corruption or incompetence or just an honest mistake. Even our developed friends across the Atlantic have some very questionable executions. If they can't get it right, I'll be damned if Pakistan does it better.

That is my main reason for being uneasy about any form of capital punishment, even if we're a gazillion percent certain of guilt. Eventually, you get it wrong and some poor innocent guy gets fried instead.

The ex-scumbag confessed to, and was convicted for the murder of six other girls as well, seems that there was no question about his guilt

@PorkAdobo , Perhaps they should have "fried" him as well under the circumstances.

Hope that the Father gets some closure out of this, poor chap.

You trust the police in Pakistan, China and Iran to extract fair confessions? No torture? No planted evidence? Not using this guy as a scapegoat to get rid of 6 bothersome cases?

Most likely, this guy was responsible. It won't be on my conscience when I shortly go to sleep. But Christ on a bike, the state sponsored practice of ending the life of a citizen (or non citizen as several Filipinos in Saudi have experienced) is something that must be exercised with huge responsibility. There's no way in a million years I'd trust those fanatical (and many stone age) lunatics in Pakistan to give the accused a fair trial.

People are on Death Row in Texas for decades but are eventually exonerated. This guy was processed in less than a year. His extreme bad luck if police corruption comes to light.

    I don't trust police anywhere.

What do you think should be done to a serial kiddie raping multiple child murderer ?

Correction to my earlier post, he was found guilty of killing EIGHT children after being linked using DNA evidence.

    You miss the point.

The question to you is what margin of error is acceptable under the state sponsored practice of killing its own citizens?

I think anyone who deliberately with evil intent takes another person's life forfeits their own right to existence.

The problem is that making this judgement call accurately 100% of the time is impossible.

I'd sooner trust a Filipina I've met for the 2nd time telling me her carabao has a sick rather than any evidence or confessions presented by Pakistan's finest.

Rhetorical question right? The guy might have been innocent and the confession extracted under duress, similar thing happened in Nepal last December, young girl raped and murdered, two locals admitted EXCEPT one was under arrest for theft at the time?Pakistan cops are super corrupt and equally brutal,i was arrested once in Pakistan.
