To start with, let's not get carried away with this woman being a Brexit Party candidate.

This delightful lady has been chosen as a candidate in Stroud.
Fair play to the woman. She seems to have done well in her profession and has rubbed shoulders with some proper bigwigs

However, not long ago, she was standing for election in Makati. Now, I can't say that I'm too happy that a guy who was (until very recently) a dual national Yank is British PM but at least he only campaigned in one country.

How happy should the residents of Stroud and Makati be knowing that this woman cannot decide which country she should represent?

Filipinos with dual citizenship must first give up their foreign citizenship under oath before they can run for any elective post in the R.P.
Was she a dual citizen at that time of that election?

I would have thought that someone with her brainpower and work ethic would be welcome to stand for election anywhere. :like:

Yes! Constance Markievitz was a suffragist and, in December 1918, was the first woman to be elected to Westminster as a Sinn Fein MP having previously been a TD in Eire. The following year the American-born Nancy Astor was also elected to the Commons.

So what are the legal requirements in the UK,plus any supporting documents required in order to stand as a political candidate?
Are you saying that she could have stood without submitting any?

Well she would have to be a Brit and if she is then that would bring up potentially fraud in the Fils

I dont think the point I have raised via the OP is difficult to arrive at??

If she was "qualified" in the Fils then couldnt be a Brit in 2016

Well I don`t know BUT it`s possible that her application for Brit nationality was being processed at the time or just after she ran as an independent candidate in the R.P... Who knows?
The important thing is that she satisfied the UK requirements to run, otherwise she would not have been able to!
It`s done and dusted now..Forget about it! lol
