Rupert Lowe · Follow 19h· Let’s take a look at just some Restore Britain policies, and you tell me if these make us nazi monsters… - The largest deportation programme ever seen in Britain to remove those migrants living in our country illegally. The entire asylum system will be abolished. The boats will stop. - Net negative immigration. Far more must leave than arrive. - If a foreign national can’t speak English, lives in social housing, claims benefits, doesn’t work, hates our way of life - they go too. If millions go, millions go. - Close entire visa routes from countries proven to supply us with illegals, criminals and sex pests. The immigration ‘Red List’. We will discriminate. - Fairer spouse visas - so that British men and women can bring their spouses to Britain without the endless bureaucracy and cost currently inflicted on them. - An overhaul of British agricultur
What are they "restoring"? They sound like an extreme version of Reform (and a dangerous one at that).
In 2024, Lowe was described in The Guardianas "comfortably in the camp of libertarian conservatives",[101] and with the launch of his new party in 2026, the newspaper reported Lowe to be "launching a far-right revolution".[102] In the academic journal Ethnic and Racial Studies and within the context of far-right racism in Europe, Lowe was considered to be one of many competitors "devoted to generating divisive, inflammatory, polarizing messages".[103]
I believe that this guy and Farage's lot are both writing (well hidden) policies to remove ILR from people already settled amongst all the other sh1t. Ya hear that Dom? If you imagine that government finance works like a household budget, then by all means fall for the same garbage that the US got suckered with and voted for. We've had 50 years of neocon economics and where did it get us. It got us here, if you deport millions you destroy money and the capacity to create money, kiss your pension goodbye.
I had a quick read of the page and a lot of what he says appeals to me ... As a country we have to be far more pragmatic: 1) About taxation - we need (money) a sensible taxation system and do what Gary Stevenson says, introduce a wealth tax and make our elite pay a far, far greater amount 2) About immigration - unless we have the infrastructure to support immigrants we cannot accept them: house, work, school for our own people 1st - immigrants 2nd 3) About language - if they cannot or will not use English - they can **** off 4) About laws - if immigrants or anyone else cannot or will not accept our laws - they can **** off or be put in jail or youth detention or whatever. 5) About work - with AI looming and the Robots taking over everything... we have to think about how much work ordinary people will be expected to do and how many jobs there will be going forward... 5) About society - we have to decide what kind of country we want to live in and allocate the resources to deal with the underlying problems - no where to live, low wages, low pensions, crappy schools, long NHS waiting lists, too few home grown nhs doctors nurses or dentists, feral youth, vape and barber shops, rape gangs, drugs, no go town centres etc etc - for me I kinda of like the Singapore model! In the end, the immigrants are an easy target but really it all comes back to money. The UK's top 10% own nearly 60% of the wealth! Introduce a sensible pragmatic wealth tax and I'm sure the UK could easily support all those (immigrants included) who wish to live there. Vive L'Angleterre !
They just pick on the immigrants to take our attention away from the real problem - which is them - people like Nigel Farage.
Home grown doctors and dentists, kids here don't want those jobs because the pay is sh1te and the degree is feckin hard, along with every other profession they're turning them all into serfs, Thatcher's lesson was for the lazy, go into finance and make a fast quid and then when it suited the money powers they got you all to vote that door into closure in 2016. Feck me
Gary Stevenson, yes I like him and he is good but there are two other economists that you should be listening to Steve Keen and Richard J Murphy both of them are professors. Make the effort to listen to both of these, first time through you will struggle to understand even the second time and third time because it is completely alien to what you've been indoctrinated with for the last 50 years but they are both telling it like it really is, the second video has a critique of the left and their reaction to modern monetary theory as well near the end, so if you're looking for a both sides view understand that these guys are intrinsically based in reality and not in political bias. Watch other stuff by Steve Keen and Murphy as well and eventually you will get where they are coming from. All the stuff you are all freakin angry about across the world is by choice, by choice of the governments of the world. As an aside the only country really doing this approach to any real degree right now is China.
Sold - let's get printing... Seriously, it's been a while since I was at school (our main focus was Keynes) - restrictive compared to mmt but I'm onboard! Scare mongers will all say mmt will lead to a collapse of the pound, my first thought, but maybe that would only be temporary if the purpose were communicated clearly as RJM says. Sadly, the UK like many other countries is crying out for a revolution of some kind but it's very set in it's ways. And our elite, who hold most of the cards and all the power, have no interest in change especially if it involves them giving up something. But what a better place the UK could be...
I studied physics, sadly I never studied economics, I suspect you will be more fluent in the language of economics than I am. This MMT stuff is very related to Keynes as far as I can tell, when the UK was running Keynesian economics we had thirty really good years in the UK, the disaster in the early 1970s was almost all derived from the OPEC oil shock and a strike of capital, lack of investment, but money blamed it on the unions. This one is important I'm trying to find the one he has on international settlement and how we got saddled with the dollar as the international currency when Keynes was proposing a system that would have had central banks using a supranational currency called the Bancor but the American proposal won out over Keynes post war, if I find it I will post.
The main point is that responsible governments have to run a deficit because it allways starts with government spending, government spending creates money and taxation cancels the money that the government creates, banks create money they don't lend out your savings, savings are dead money but ultimately under double entry bookkeeping it is government spending that creates money that's why if the government is trying to run a balanced budget that's the same as saying the government can never create money. Governments do not borrow to allow spending, they don't borrow from people they don't borrow from private sources, they create money first. The real source of boom and bust is credit, not government spending. As Keen says the US could solve it's budget deficit tomorrow by telling it's central bank the FED to buy the whole 32 trillion of t-bills or bonds, hey presto the interest on the debt is gone. Yes it would affect the value of the currency in terms of it's foreign exchange value but a lower dollar would acheive what they say they want, reduced imports, because no bugger in America would be able to afford to buy foreign goods and that would create an incentive to reshore manufacturing in the USA which they also say they want. Any government with a central bank and it's own currency can do this.
