He`s the most caring and bravest person in the uk that I know of and his personal and intellectual knowledge of Islam is second to none..People that call him "racist" are fools..
If you want to understand Islamic terrorism in the UK,watch every and ANY Tommy Robinson video that you can find...Ive watched them all and IMO he is yet another British hero.

I was shocked when I read about this, I was on a flight from Dubai to Mauritius earlier today and immediately thought of my wife who travels to Manchester via Victoria station every week day for work, heart wrenching to see that picture of that lovely little girl who was one of the victims.

Anyone even being suspected of planning a terrorist attack should be locked up and the key thrown away, the soft Liberals wouldn't agree to that of course, you don't talk to people like this or try to understand them you just have to kill them.

When are these atrocities going to stop? never is the answer.

Makes my blood boil to think someone can do this in the name of religion.

Graham - what would your reaction be if one of our regular board members announced they followed Islam? Maybe you'd helped them with some questions.

Would your attitude change towards them?

    Just asking.

    You may ask.

As you wish. The wonderful Stephen Fry nails it for me in the first minute of this video. Substitute Muslim for Catholic and you have my view on PEACEFUL, LAW ABIDING, religious adherents - of whatever stripe.

Challenge the church / faith by all means (I'm hardcore atheist btw) but don't demonise individual Muslims / Jews / Catholics / Hindus etc - it stirs up hatred and encourages violence.

I agree, a decent chap who has been treated very badly by society and the media. Well worth reading his book "Enemy of the State".

I guess you are saying that you don't demonise salman abedi for what he did.
Instead you regard every Jew, Catholic, Hindu (etc) as being equally to blame for yesterdays murders.
Then you post a video denigrating the Roman Catholic Church.

What a sick, pompous, glib out of touch attitude you have.

Think of that poor 8 year old girl, her innocent life wiped out in such a awful manner.
Think of the future mental suffering of her mother, family and friends.

"Demonise - Portray as wicked and threatening"

Oh dear - I credited you with more intelligence.

Read Graham's general (i.e. non-specific) slur (against all Muslims) and engage brain.

My post was a rejoinder to Graham's casual bigotry.

Jihadi scumbags deserve all they get.

Talk about missing the point - whoosh!

Can I just clarify. Is this Tommy Robinson the same convicted criminal Tommy Robinson who has served 2 jail terms for assaulting a police officer (who stepped in to prevent Robinson attacking his wife) and mortgage fraud?

The same Tommy Robinson who was formerly a member of the British National Party - the neo-nazi / fascist group of thugs and white supremacists?

The same Tommy Robinson who if his policies were put into practice would mean none of us Brits would be able to bring our Filipina loved-ones into the UK?

British hero? I rather think not.

Its good to see someone fighting against the casual bigotry as I used to do but I personally found it to be a waste of time and I have largely lost interest in contributing. You know and I know that the actions of a few Muslims don't automatically make them all bad, just as the actions of the IRA did not present the views of all of that religious group. There are probably people on this forum that agree with you but most of them simply can't be bothered to run the right wing gauntlet anymore.

    Many thanks @ChoiAndJohn - appreciated.

I joined this forum to seek advice on immigration matters - and everyone has been so helpful. The fact that Kris and her son recently got their Settlement (m) visas is partly down to a core of around 10 regular posters helping us through the process - and we are genuinely grateful to all.

What's surprising - and to be honest I didn't expect this - is the degree of quite offensive posts on this and related matters.
There is a significant amount of throwaway prejudice from a small number of posters which in my opinion shows them in a not very flattering light.

It's also very noticeable that when the "received orthodoxy" in the politics' section is challenged - which I readily admit I sometimes do - the replies quickly resort to mild abuse and sometimes quite offensive attacks.

That said I personally have a thick skin and am never going to be overly troubled by critique of my position - I fear the same cannot be said for some prominent posters. To borrow from the American Right (quite appropriately!) there appear to be a few "snowflakes" in our midst - with easily bruised ego's.

I hope you continue to participate in the Forum.

    Regards.

    Gerry

Terribly sad - like all the other wasted lives.

The disgusting, medieval, ideology that drives brainwashed individuals to kill and maim needs to be fought with utmost vigour.
