Thanks for the confirmation, I always wondered who he was, I liked that man's posts a lot over there and he's mentioned as being liked and missed here on a good few occasions.

I agree that what happened is abhorrent. It does not surprise me that the events in Manchester ignited this particular debate on this particular forum - there have been debates like this before after all. In my view, however, there is a big difference between scrutiny, and the racist bigotry that I habitually see touted on this site. I agree wholeheartedly with @scotchap16 whole post above.

Agreed. There is just too much of this sort of far right material now for my liking.

    Elementary Set theory:

Just because some loonies claim to be Tory voters, that does not make all Tory voters loonies.
Just become some Muslims happen to be terrorists, that does not make all Muslims terrorists.

Indeed I wasn't referring to the Tories at all. I shall amend my post to refer to 'far right loonies' - far right politics being defined as a a set of ideologies including Nazism, fascism and featuring extreme nationalist, chauvinist, xenophobic or racist views.

I am waiting with interest to see what reaction this will yield from some people. However, to be honest, I believe that this debate isn't really about religion at all. It's really about a certain element of society wanting to ban all immigration and throw out anyone who is not white, anglo-saxon protestant. This debate is just a vehicle for that.

Agreed. And if there was a lot less of this sort of thing, perhaps more Filipino members might feel able to participate.

Yes I agree I feel the same.

As a programmer I very much like your point about set theory but I doubt Timmers studied much in the way of Venn Diagrams as a child or if he did he certainly doesn't remember any of it :)

And yes when the prejudice surfaced very openly recently a great many good active and nice Filipino people suddenly stopped posting :(

I concur and it destroys the ethos of what this place is all about.

Not sure what that is about, but ANYWAY.

I'm just teasing and having a bit of fun. It really doesn't matter at all to me, this 'trusted' business. I'm a grown-up, and can cope with it. :like:

As I said, my wife is very clear that she found some of the postings on here so rude and they made her so angry that she decided that she did not want to contribute. I myself contribute only rarely now because of the same reason. I suspect that @Methersgate - one of the very decent individuals on here and someone whom I have a great deal of respect for - may have similar views since he has also been largely absent.

For the record Graham last mentioned it when Brom was promoted and we saw the result of the despicable postings too.

I know I'm on your ignore list @graham59 because I called you out on being unpleasant. I agree with you. You are indeed consistent.

That being said, everyone has a view. I just feel disappointed that so often these views are aired in the bluntest possible way without thought or care to the offence they may cause, whether that is to the muslim, gay or the wider community.

Well, we don't all share the same opinons... or sexuality, so I suppose that makes some of us 'despicable' .

I think that's all I need to know about those running this show now.

Kindly delete me from the membership list... many thanks. :like:

We have never deleted anyone, the only mechanism is a ban and I am not about to do that, like anyone else you can choose not to post and not to visit.

If you don't feel part of the forum then that's your choice. No one is aking you to go just be mindful of others. FYI we don't delete users but we can anonymize usernames.

Yes we can certainly anonymise his account if that is what he wants, however the anonymity will be limited as it will be clear from quotes and other aspects of posts who the person is.
